WWE News: WWE Diva AJ Lee Set To Retire After The Survivor Series PPV?
In a surprising report, there is a rumor going around that current WWE Diva’s Champion AJ Lee could be done with WWE after Survivor Series. The report comes from Bryan Alvarez, who reported it on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio broadcast. AJ is taking on Nikki Bella at the event for the title. Nikki is someone that WWE has a lot of faith in and they’d like to push her to top diva status.
The main issue with that is that AJ Lee, even without the WWE Diva’s Title, is considered the best Diva in the WWE today. That said, there was a rumor that Nikki would be taking the title from AJ in an effort to build her up. However, now we are hearing that this move has other consequences too. According to Alvarez, if AJ loses the title at Survivor Series, it would be her last match with WWE, as she could be quietly retiring.
What helps this rumor is that AJ recently launched her own website outside the WWE promoting her real name, AJ Brooks. As many know by now, AJ married CM Punk over the summer. Punk’s real name is Phil Brooks. This is why there is a name change. Many would speculate that she wants to leave WWE to be with Punk as well. They are newlyweds still. In fact, they’ve only been married for six months.
While speculation was that AJ’s contract with WWE expired next year, they could have agreed to let her out of her contract early or the deal is simply up this year despite reports.
The cool thing about AJ Lee is that unlike her husband, she would not just be walking out and burning bridges. She would be leaving the company after working her way out of storylines.
Here is the problem though, there has been AJ retiring or leaving speculation all year long. There have been numerous reports regarding her absence earlier in the year. There was even an “AJ Lee pregnant” trend going around. Interesting enough, she made her surprise return to WWE shortly after that rumor came out. That being said, we cannot take this rumor for much more than that just yet. Although there are various signs that make us believe it to be true.
AJ Lee is WWE’s best all-around Diva right now. Her absence will be big. The fact that she would walk away at just 27 years of age is also sad to see. Many thought she could be around another 5-to-10 years due to how great she has been.
Sadly, we may be seeing the last of AJ Lee soon in WWE. At Survivor Series, she may have her last match in WWE. All good things must come to an end of course. While we can speculate that she’d be done for good, AJ loves wrestling.That said, it may not be the last time we ever see her in a WWE ring. Heck, she may even talk CM Punk out of retirement one day. Then she’s truly be the IWC goddess.
