Canseco: ‘Finger Fell Off’ During Poker Game So I Stuck It In The Freezer, Confesses Jose Canseco

Jose Conseco’s finger fell off during a poker game. If that’s not horrifying enough, the former professional athlete confessed that he popped the disembodied digit in the freezer following the freak incident. The most recent news about Conseco’s finger came courtesy of the unlucky player himself, when he used social media to share the unsettling news of his latest finger folly.

ESPN noted that the sad tale of Jose Canseco’s finger was told in a series of tweets after the reattached digit fell off. Among the highlights of Canseco’s story were that his finger smelled bad, was loose, and had no bone. He also said that he had a feeling it was going to fall off before it happened.

“Ok well I might as well tell you.I was playing in a poker tournament last night and my finger fell off.someone took a video of it,” he shared on Twitter. “My finger should have been amputated from the beginning. It was very loose with no bone to connect it. It was also smelling really bad. I put my finger in the freezer anyone want finger appetizers.”

According to a report by CNN, Jose Conseco’s finger may be the star of its own video. Someone reportedly has footage of the moment when the finger fell from his hand, and it could be available to media outlets for the right price. Jose Melendez, Canseco’s representative, told CNN that the footage really does exist. Canseco himself confirms as much on Twitter, when he announced that an unnamed party had sold the video to his agent. He hasn’t watched it yet.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Jose Canseco’s finger was initially liberated from the rest of his body when the semiautomatic handgun he was cleaning turned out to be loaded. Canseco was unaware that the weapon was loaded until it fired, shooting off the middle finger of his left hand. Surgeons made a valiant effort to reconnect the errant digit to his hand, but they acknowledged that things would never be the same. Doctors believed Canseco would lose the use of his finger even if the surgery was successful.

Former Major League Baseball player Jose Canseco is engaged to Leila Knight. His fiancée was present at the time of the horrifying accident. She explained that the accident happened while Canseco was sitting at the kitchen table in the home they share. It’s fortunate that no one was killed in the incident, but it looks like the athlete will go through the rest of his life minus one middle finger. Fortunately, he is right handed.
