Meg Ryan, America’s Sweetheart, Celebrates 50th Birthday
In addition to Rom-Coms and Rom-Drams, Ryan – who started out her career in the early 80s with a part in the popular soap opera As the World Turns – has also starred in her fair share of thrillers.
In 2000, Meg was cast alongside Russel Crowe in Taylor Hackford’s Proof of Life, an action-thriller where Ryan played the part of a distraught wife of a kidnapped engineer, and three years later she scored the lead role in Jane Campion’s erotic thriller, In the Cut.
Away from the big screen, Ryan is a mom of two children — a 19-year-boy named Jack Henry (from former husband Dennis Quaid) and a 7-year-old daughter named Daisy True (adopted from China).
According to Wikipedia, Meg is currently romantically linked to American rock singer-songwriter, John Mellencamp.
