The Wayne murder scene has now begun filming for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and it is obviously going to be one of the strongest and most pivotal scenes in the entire film. That scene would be none other than the murder scene of Thomas and Martha Wayne — Bruce Wayne’s (Batman) parents.
According to Comicbook.com, film writer and blogger Dan Marcus was able to grab a picture of the production set for Batman v Superman recently, and it was obvious what he was showing.
Pictured is an old style movie theater that shows Excalibur playing and also the Hollywood classic The Mark of Zorro. The latter is the very film that the Waynes see before they end up dying a short time later in an alley after being gunned down.
Never before in a big-screen Batman film has The Mark of Zorro been recognized or even acknowledged in any way. Yes, the Wayne murder scene has popped up before, but not in full storyline mode like this. In The Dark Knight trilogy, the film was replaced by an opera performance.
Indie Revolver states that the actual scene with the deaths of Bruce Wayne’s parents was set to happen around 7 p.m. on November 12. It is being said that shooting on the particular scene could end up lasting for several hours and wrapping up isn’t set until 6 a.m. the next morning.
Batman (Ben Affleck) is going to be introduced in this film as a seasoned crime fighter and one that has obviously been taken to a darker place. Word from director Zack Snyder is that the film is set to have a much darker tone than the Superman films of the past have had.
Now, with the inclusion of the Wayne murder scene, it is obvious that this film is going to take turns that will bring an overall dark mood to it. Whether an early scene or a flashback, Bruce Wayne is going to experience the worst moment of his life and the one that made him who he is.
With the inclusion and detail being given to the Wayne murder scene, it looks as if Batman v Superman is indeed going to stay true to the Frank Miller graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns. That’s something that fans have been clamoring to happen for years, and now it looks like their wish will be granted.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will star Affleck, making his debut as Batman, and Henry Cavill, returning to play the role of Superman/Clark Kent. It is set to hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
