Twitter Is A ‘Weird Enigma’: Jennifer Lawrence Blasts Social Media Websites
In an interview released yesterday with the UK’s BBC Radio 1, Jennifer Lawrence admitted that she will never create social media accounts on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Especially following what has become known as The Fappening, Jennifer criticized social media, saying that she did not understand it or will ever use it.
“It’s because the internet has scorned me so much.”
Jennifer and The Hunger Games cast mates Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show to promote the latest film in the series. The host Nick Grimshaw directed questions from fans to Jennifer and company. Even though she was sick, Lawrence remained upbeat and joked throughout the interview. However, Jennifer only became serious when she was asked if she would ever create a social media accounts, including one on Twitter.
“I’m not very good on phones or technology. I can not really keep up with emails, so the idea of Twitter is so unthinkable to me. I don’t really understand what it is, it’s this weird enigma that people talk about. And it’s fine, I respect that, but no, I will never get a Twitter.”
Jennifer was one of many actresses whose personal photos were recently leaked to the media. As reported by the Inquisitr, Lawrence reacted to the incident by calling it a sex crime. It comes as no surprise that Jennifer is not excited about the idea of social media, and would become more reserved when talking about the internet.
“I feel like it’s like, that girl in high school, that I’m like: ‘oh you wanna talk about her? Yeah I’ll do that. I’m gonna take my hoops off, I’m ready to go.'”
E! News verified that Lawrence does indeed have an official Facebook account. They say that the account is most likely run by her team, especially since Jennifer could not remember that she had an official page during the BBC interview. Lawrence may be one of the internet’s most popular subjects, but she is not a fan herself.
Jennifer’s team even posted a photo on her Facebook account of the cast and Radio 1.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 will release in theaters in the US on November 21. Jennifer, Liam, and Josh are currently attending different worldwide premieres in London, Berlin, and major cities.
