Anne Hathaway Wants To Reprise Her Role As Catwoman

Anne Hathaway has been doing press for her new film, Interstellar, and during one of those junkets, Catwoman came up as a topic of discussion. As we all know, Hathaway took on the role of Catwoman in the Interstellar director’s classic trilogy The Dark Knight.

It sounds like Hathaway didn’t get enough of playing Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises and could use a second go at playing one of the most iconic villains in the DC universe.

According to IGN, when asked if she would be up for a standalone film, given the sudden emergence of Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel, Anne said she was basically game to do another one if director Christopher Nolan had anything to do with it.

“I would be totally up for doing it. If Chris [Nolan] was involved. For me, the thing that made doing that part particularly fun was that she existed in his Gotham. Without him I don’t think it would be the same thing.”

She then questioned if having a standalone film will serve Selina’s story well. After all, we do remember how horrible the Halle Berry version was, but then again, Nolan wasn’t involved in that project.

“But I also wonder about that part. If because she’s a thief, it’s not better to have her be a small part in a larger film. So she can go through and steal aspects of the film. But when the focus is squarely on her, I don’t know if it works as well. I think she’s got an amazing backstory and it would be great to see her get her own film. She is someone who… mystery serves her well so I don’t know what a whole film would do. But who knows?”

So, what about bringing her in for other DC possibilities? “Oh yeah that’d be fun. I’d definitely love that. I want to play her again.”

If DC ever decides to do a new take on Catwoman, they might have to do it without Christopher Nolan. He confirmed that he’s not involved in any upcoming DC projects, including Justice League.

Last month, the Interstellar director toldComing Soon,“I love those guys and my brother was involved in Man of Steel with Zack [Snyder] and David [Goyer]. I kind of feel like that chapter for us is closed.”

Although all of this is hypothetical, it would be nice to see Anne return as Catwoman.
