Nick Cannon Says He’s Not Ready To Date

Nick Cannon may be more interested in building his media empire than finding a new love. The 34-year-old actor, comedian, and DJ gave an interview to People Magazine at a party at 1 OAK Las Vegas. Cannon says that dating just isn’t his focus right now.

“I gotta slow it down. I’m trying to slow it down and stay focused,” Cannon said. “Family is the first thing and my kids are most important.”

Cannon’s disinterest in dating isn’t for lack of opportunity. According to People, Cannon spent the night at 1 OAK surrounded by a small group of friends. Cannon ignored any woman who attempted to get his attention, focusing on his friends and his music.

Cannon is well known for his work ethic, but his reluctance to enter the dating scene may have something to do with soon-to-be ex-wife Mariah Carey. While Cannon and Carey have refrained from slinging insults at one another in the press, sources close to Cannon claim his ex-wife was very self absorbed, even after the couple’s twins were born. Allegedly, Carey spent her days sleeping and her nights pouring over photographs of herself and freaking out about aging.

Carey’s diva behavior didn’t stop there. As the Inquisitr previously reported, after the split, Carey and her lawyer allegedly slapped Cannon with papers preventing him from speaking about the divorce publicly.

After the split, Cannon got an elaborate back tattoo to cover up the “Mariah” tattoo he got in honor of his then-wife. Cannon has been linked to several women, including model Jasmin Sanders and a mysterious brunette with whom he had dinner in Tribeca last summer.

The most well-known woman linked to Cannon is model Amber Rose, the jilted former wife of rapper Wiz Khalifa. In the early days of Amber Rose’s messy split with Wiz Khalifa, speculations flew that she and Nick Cannon were dating after the model-turned-actress gushed about how much Cannon made her laugh. There was even speculation that her relationship with Cannon led her to file for divorce.

Cannon and Amber Rose have always insisted that they are just friends, but that hasn’t stopped the speculation. The rumors only intensified after Amber Rose and Nick Cannon were spotted hanging out at Pinz Bowling Center in Los Angeles.

Just don’t expect Cannon to stay single forever. When pressed, Cannon said, “Obviously the dating thing will come down the line, but right now I’m just slowing down.”
