Watch ‘The Hunger Games’ Trailer: Katniss Trains for Epic Battle [Video]
This morning on “Good Morning America,” the world got its first glimpse of “The Hunger Games.” The movie, based on the book by Suzanne Collins, stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and yes, Lenny Kravitz.
The trailer gives the first look at Katniss and her fellow tributes training for their epic fight to the death.
“It’s 24 of us,” said Lawrence on Good Morning America. “Only one comes out.”
Here’s the trailer for “The Hunger Games.”
“The Hunger Games” won’t be in theaters until March, but tidal wave of hype has already started. Josh Hutcherson was in Times Square today to watch the trailer with hundreds of screaming fans.
Hutcherson said:
“The characters and the story are just so interesting, it drives you to want to know what happens to Katniss and what journey she is going to take. The world of ‘The Hunger Games’ is so amazing.”
MSNBC reports that “The Hunger Game” fans weren’t thrilled about Lawrence being cast as Katniss, but she looks pretty impressive in the trailer. Lawrence, of course, gained critical acclaim for her role in “Winter’s Bone.”
Fans of “The Hunger Games” are hoping that the movie becomes the next Twilight (Twilight: Breaking Dawn premiers tonight). “The Hunger Games” is just the first book in an extremely popular trilogy by Suzanne Collins.
Lions Gate is sure hoping that “The Hunger Games” lives up to the hype. Lions Gate has had a rough year with bombs like “Conan the Barbarian” and Taylor Lautner’s “Abduction,” but they are hoping that “The Hunger Games” can turn things around for them.
Joe Drake, president of the motion pictures group and co-chief operating officer of Lions Gate, told Forbes:
“For the motion picture group, which is a big piece of the company, this has the potential to be a game changer, a transformative event.”
Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland also appear in the new movie.
Are you excited for “The Hunger Games?” Do you think “The Hunger Games” will be the next big movie franchise?
