Jim Bob Duggar Doesn’t Arrange Marriages, He Only ‘Suggests Guys’ His Daughters Should Marry
With two Duggar weddings in under six months, you’d think 19 Kids and Counting star Jim Bob Duggar would want to take a break from walking his daughters down the aisle. But with seven more girls to marry off, it looks like Jim Bob will be playing the role of “father of the bride” for many years to come.
However, walking down the aisle isn’t Jim Bob’s only job when it comes to marrying off his daughters. The 50-year-old reality star tells People that he has given his daughters suggestions as to who they may want to start a courtship with, and eventually marry.
“Over the years, I have suggested guys to my daughters… we have had a lot of guys that approach us and are interested in this girl or that girl.”
Jim Bob apparently doesn’t make the final choice for his girls, stating that both of his married daughters, Jill and Jessa, “have chosen their spouse on their own.” However, his wife Michelle tells Today that any guy who is interested in one of the Duggar’s daughters is sent directly to Jim Bob for approval.

The head of the Duggar family states that he “fields letters, calls and emails” on a weekly basis, all from guys who are interested in his daughters. Jim Bob tells Today that he “takes each request to the daughter in question” and they always ask him what he thinks about the guy.
It sounds like Jim Bob is very involved in helping his daughters find the right man, one who would fit in well with the Duggar clan. Once they pass muster, they also have to agree to abide the family’s dating rule, which includes no holding hands until the engagement and no kissing or chest-to-chest contact until marriage.

The oldest unmarried Duggar daughter, Jana, is 24, and the youngest, Josie, turns 5 in December. That means over the span of the next 15 or 16 years, Jim Bob Duggar will be on the lookout for seven potential husbands for his seven single daughters — if all of them choose to get married.
