’16 And Pregnant’ Star Jordan Cashmyer Attempted Suicide ‘Trying To Overdose’

Reality star Jordan Cashmyer revealed Wednesday that she attempted to end her life last week via overdose.

The 18-year-old 16 and Pregnant star was hospitalized and treated until her doctors felt that she had made enough progress to return home.

Jordan Cashmyer posted a statement on her official Facebook page on Wednesday explaining the events that led up to her suicide attempt.

“I have been struggling with a lot of different things, emotionally, since I had Genevieve. I was diagnosed with [postpartum] depression and was on medication…but I never followed up with my appointment and after that things starting to get out of control. My mood wouldn’t stay stable…I was extremely impulsive…and my anxiety got worse, as did my depression and OCD. It got to the point where I didn’t know what to do or how to handle it and since i had lost everything that was important to me, i felt that there wasn’t much of a reason to live anymore.”

In her statement, Jordan Cashmyer continues by explaining the aftermath of her suicide attempt, including how she feels now that she has been able to return home and can work on moving forward with her life.

“I was taken to the hospital… They felt that I had made enough progress that I could go home… I am now on medication and feeling great. I feel like my normal self; happy, smiling, talkative and thinking clearly… Things really are looking up and I am set on having the best possible future for my daughter and I.”

Most fans and critics of the hit MTV series 16 and Pregnant know that Jordan Cashmyer struggled with a lot of problems while she was pregnant. An episode that originally aired back in June showed that Jordan even struggled with homelessness while she was expecting.

However, Jordan Cashmyer gave birth to her firstborn child, Genevieve Shae Taylor, on March 7, 2014.

Radar Online reports that Jordan broke up with Genevieve’s father Derek after their daughter was born.

Further reports confirm that Jordan Cashmyer worked in a Baltimore strip club earlier this year.

Hopefully, Jordan Cashmyer will be able to depend on the support and assistance of her MTV family – including Teen Mom star Amber Portwood. According to her tell-all memoir, Amber Portwood attempted to commit suicide several times herself.
