A startlingly handsome actor has just been hired by NBC to play none other than Jesus Christ himself for a brand new miniseries.
According to E! Online , Juan Pablo di Pace will be taking on Jesus for an ambitious television program called A.D. , which is the sequel to a previous popular miniseries titled The Bible . The new Jesus has more than just stunning good looks going for him; di Pace also has some acting experience under his belt, including an appearance on the reboot of Dallas and a role on NBC’s Camp , which didn’t last long.
The new miniseries will be set after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. A.D. will follow Christ’s disciples who worked to spread the word of Jesus after his death. The followers of Jesus will be depicted in a struggle to propagate the teachings of Christ in a time of violence and unrest.
Twelve episodes will be filmed for A.D. , starring di Pace for special appearance of Jesus. While Jesus Christ did show himself for several decades after his crucifixion, according to the Bible, it’s unclear if di Pace was primarily cast for flashbacks or the occasional return to Earth. While many think A.D. stands for “after death,” meaning after the death of Jesus Christ, it originated from “anno domini,” which is Latin for “the year of our lord.”
The miniseries is slated to be released on Easter of 2015. In the meantime, you can gawk at some photos of the hunky new Jesus Christ.
According to Today , Juan Pablo di Pace is 35-years-old and a native of Argentina . He will replace Diogo Morgado, who played Jesus Christ in the prequel miniseries The Bible . A.D. will be produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey. People reported that the new show will be centered around Jesus Christ , but “will focus on the fallout and the impact the crucifixion had on Jesus’ mother, Mary, his disciples and key political and religious leaders.”
Juan Pablo teased that he was cast to play the iconic Biblical figure Jesus Christ on his Twitter page yesterday (November 4).
