A girl finds meth in her Halloween candy bag after going door to door in her neighborhood trick-or-treating. According to the New York Daily News , the girl’s father found the small pink bag and called the Hercules, California police department. When the police arrived, they discovered the bag contained 0.1 gram of crystal meth. Police have now launched an investigation, hoping to find the person responsible for putting the drugs in the girl’s bag.

According to The SpreadIt , the girl was just 8-years-old. As many parents do, the young girl’s dad was going through his daughter’s Halloween candy to check it. While he may have been expecting to find open bars of candy or some shady homemade treats, he got even more than he bargained for.
“He had been checking his child’s Halloween candy after putting it away on Halloween night, and while checking it found the baggie and suspected it was illegal drugs. He wanted to report it,” said Hercules Police Sgt. Ezra Tafesse. “This could have been intentional or it could have been accidental and we won’t know until we speak with the person who did this.”
The girl who found meth in her Halloween candy likely wasn’t affected by her dad’s find. She was still able to keep the rest of her haul, which was just good ‘ole candy.
The police department does not think it’s going to be very difficult to find the criminal as the area where the young girl went trick-or-treating was fairly small. Interestingly enough, some parents in the area have said that they won’t be taking their kids trick-or-treating in that neighborhood in the future. As previously reported by the Inquisitr , parents are on a “heightened alert” for any suspicious activity , and many are hoping that police find the person behind the drug-drop quickly.
So far, no one has been charged in the case. It is unclear if police have a suspect or if they have questioned anyone in the neighborhood.
Interestingly enough, a similar incident happened in the same town 14 years ago. According to Forbes , someone put “marijuana disguised as miniature chocolate bars” in children’s bags when the kids went trick-or-treating.
“The treats were the product of a failed and undetected attempt to mail 5 ounces of marijuana to someone in San Francisco. Somebody tried to mail it and didn’t have enough postage or the address was wrong,” he said. The case was traced to a postal worker who apparently didn’t know that there was pot inside the wrappers and handed out the candy on Halloween.
