‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Executive Producer Dishes On Season Seven, Porsha Williams’ Demotion
The Real Housewives of Atlanta will return to Bravo for its seventh season on Sunday and, ahead of the premiere episode, the show’s executive producer is speaking out.
In an interview with Perez Hilton, Carlos King discussed the demotion of Porsha Williams and revealed what fans can expect from the upcoming season.
“I don’t hire nor fire housewives or demote them for that matter!” King explained to Hilton. “But Andy Cohen spoke about Porsha’s demotion and he specifically stated that it was a decision made from the network due to the lack of personal story info that Porsha was offering this season, but I can say that Porsha is all over this season as if she was a peach holder (housewife) so fans and #teamporsha should know they will see her read and throw shade like she always does!!”
As the Inquisitr reported on October 1, Williams was demoted when the seventh season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta was announced. In addition, Bravo opted for two new housewives, Claudia Jordan and Demetria McKinney, although the latter’s role on the show was part-time.
“The dynamic has changed in a good way with the addition of Claudia Jordan because finally Kenya has a friend on the show who actually likes her,” King explained, before noting he was kidding. “Claudia is a well known TV personality/comedian who has an organic friendship with Kenya so she brings that to the table. She’s beyond funny and has a great back-story being a biracial beauty so there’s definitely layers to Claudia. Plus, she’s able to stand on her own two feet with the rest of the girls which is also dynamic to watch.”
As for McKinney, King confirmed she would be seen in a “friend” role throughout The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Season 7. “Demetria McKinney is a ‘friend’ to the show,” he explained. “She is brought on through Cynthia Bailey since they have known each other through the social scene in Atlanta.”
King also discussed the return of Williams’ ex-husband, Kordell Stewart, who is sure to cause some trouble with his new relationship with Jordan. “In the super-trailer you see Kordell getting cozy to Claudia so he is definitely a part of this season,” King said. “In regards to how much you will see him, well, you will have to tune in [e]very Sunday at 8pm on Bravo to find out!”
In other Williams news, the reality star is reportedly in talks for her own spinoff series on Bravo. According to the Inquisitr, Bravo would like to feature Williams in a Kim Zolciak-style series. “When Bravo ‘demoted’ Porsha and took away her peach… it wasn’t a real demotion. We’re told that they immediately signed her on to do her own spinoff show, like the one that Kim Zolciak has,” Media Take Out reported.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta premieres on Sunday, November 9.
