Angelina Jolie For President? Actress Says She’s ‘Open’ To Career In Politics
Angelina Jolie is open to pursuing a career in politics thanks to the “new purpose” that she has found through her humanitarian work.
Jolie recently opened up in an interview with Vanity Fair contributing editor Janine di Giovanni about her humanitarian work and the “responsibility” to “make an extreme change” that comes along with it.
Based on her “prolific political activities,” di Giovanni decided to directly ask the 39-year-old film director and actress if she would consider pursuing a life in politics, diplomacy, or public service. Jolie responded by saying “I am open.”
However, to put things into perspective, the Maleficent actress and Unbroken director caught herself during the interview – stating that she is conscious of what she does for a living which means could make any political pursuits less likely.
“I honestly don’t know in what role I would be more useful—I am conscious of what I do for a living, and that [could] make it less possible.”
To say that Angelina Jolie currently has a busy filming schedule would be a major understatement.
Angelina played the titular role in the blockbuster hit, Maleficent which was released in theaters earlier this year and made over $757 million at the box office worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.
The highly-anticipated war drama film Unbroken, which Angelina Jolie directed and produced, is scheduled to be released on Christmas Day.
Jolie is also working on her next directorial feature, By the Sea,which will reunite her on the big screen with her husband and Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-star Brad Pitt.
According to Deadline, Angelina has been able to form a solid working relationship with Donna Langley and Universal in recent years. In addition to allowing Jolie to become the director for Unbroken, Universal was also the studio that acquired worldwide rights to the script for By the Sea earlier this year.
Angelina has admitted that she is “very happy” to maintain the relationship that she has formed with Donna Langley and Universal.
“I am very happy to continue my relationship with Donna and the entire Universal team… They have created a very special place for storytellers, and I look forward to the continued passion and support they have provided to me as a filmmaker.”
In addition to her busy film schedule, Jolie also has a busy personal life being the wife of one and a mother of six.
Can you see Angelina Jolie putting Hollywood on the backburner in the future in order to focus more on making an extreme change in the world as a politician?
