The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies trailer has finally been announced along with a surprise cameo by a very familiar face. First to the much anticipated trailer, which director Peter Jackson had originally announced for October, it will now premiere in a couple of days, November 6.
The studio has dubbed this epic installment “The Defining Chapter” and rightfully so, as everything is on the line and all characters come to a head in one final historic encounter. This is also Jackson’s very last trailer for his Middle Earth series, which also included The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
In the previous chapter, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug , we saw things turn dark as the company of dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) finally arrive at their long-lost home of Erebor with the help of Bilbo Baggins, the Hobbit (Martin Freeman), and the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen). But as much as the displaced group has waited for this day — especially Thorin — they don’t realize that they will unleash the dragon Smaug, a beast that keeps guard of the treasure hidden in the Misty Mountains.
Smaug’s fury was hinted at in the last moments of the previous episode and in The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies trailer we can expect to see a bit more of the spectacular dragon Jackson brought to life. Little by little the legendary beast has been revealed, however, we have yet to witness it out of its dungeon. A poster was revealed earlier in which Smaug is seen descending into Laketown in a fiery scene.
Dragon slayer, Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans) is the only one who can stop the evil monster who wants to destroy their modest home. A battle of epic proportions is looming in the horizon.
In a previous report from The One Ring , it was revealed that The Hobbit The Battle of the Five Armies trailer will come in at two-minutes and 24-seconds, so hopefully we get a better look at the main characters. It was also speculated at the time that a surprise cameo would be coming with this last trailer.
Spoilers ahead: The Italian fan site Tolkien Italy says that Saruman, the White, the legendary Lord of the Rings character will make an appearance one last time. Not only is Christopher Lee is 92-years-old, but has slowed down in his appearances in recent years. The fact that he agreed to make a come back indicates how historic the Peter Jackson film really is.
Are you excited for The Hobbit The Battle of the Five Armies trailer on November 6? What do you think of Saruman making one last cameo?
