Mama June’s Pay Day Taken Away: Check Slashed By TLC
If Mama June Shannon was counting on one last fat check from TLC, then she’s in trouble. As TMZ reported, former Honey Boo Boo co-stars Sugar Bear and Uncle Poodle claim they are being screwed over by Mama June and her antics with her alleged sex offender boyfriend.
When TLC cancelled Honey Boo Boo last month amid reports that Mama June had reconnected convicted sex offender Mark McDaniel, one season of the reality series was unaired, and TLC has said they have no intention of ever airing it. By the terms of their contract with TLC, the stars’ payment is tied to the airing of the episodes, not the production of the episodes. TLC hasn’t paid any of the stars of Honey Boo Boo for that unaired season.
Apparently, the delay in payment was to give TLC time to determine how much they were legally required to pay Mama June for the product her actions destroyed. It seems the children and Sugar Bear will be paid their normal salary. Uncle Poodle has already been paid his full salary. Mama June is the odd woman out.
According to sources familiar with the situation, Mama June will be hit with a huge penalty for violating the morals clause of her contract. There’s no official word on how much of her salary Mama June will receive.
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old former reality television star has yet to admit she’s dating McDaniel. In a recent interview, Mama June claimed seemed unfazed by the accusations, simply saying that “the truth will come out,” and saying that she didn’t “want to say anything about anything.”
The truth doesn’t look good. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the sexual assault of Mama June’s oldest daughter by Mark McDaniel was reported by June’s mother. June’s mother, Sandra Hale, believes that June is seeing McDaniel despite her repeated denials.
Hale has expressed concern about 9-year-old Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, because she is nearly the same age her older sister was when McDaniel molested her. For the first time, Hale confirmed that the Georgia Department of Family and Children’s Services has been contacted about Mama June’s repeated contact with a convicted sex offender.
The question is, if Mama June was determined to be an unfit mother, where would Alana go? Sugar Bear, Alana’s father and Mama June’s former boyfriend, is apparently couch surfing while waiting for his final check from TLC. According to Sugar Bear, June controlled the all of the couple’s money and forced him to live on an allowance.
