Honey Boo Boo In Danger? Grandmother Who Saved Anna Fears The Worst
In an interview with ETonline, Sandra Hale, the grandmother of Honey Boo Boo and Anna Cardwell, has spoken out about the latest abuse allegations, claiming that she is worried for Honey Boo Boo and fears the worst.
She recalled in the interview, the horrific day when her granddaughter Anna, who was just 8-years-old at the time, told her she had been sexually molested by Mark McDaniel, her mother’s then-lover.
As Hale told ET, regarding that fateful day, “I took her to the police station and filed the charges on her behalf because she was a minor. I was looking out for her best interests and I wasn’t going to let this go away.”
In recent weeks, Honey Boo Boo’s mother, Hales’ daughter, June “Mama June” Shannon, has been under the close scrutiny of the media since the cancellation of TLC’s Here Comes Honey Boo Boo following reports that Shannon has rekindled a relationship with her ex-boyfriend Mark McDaniel, the convicted child molester who allegedly molested Anna.
Hale said she remembers well her initial violent reaction when she found out McDaniel was molesting Anna.
“What my reaction was is I wanted to kill him,” Hale admitted.
Even though Shannon claims she hasn’t been seeing McDaniel since his recent release from prison, Hale believes she has.
“I feel they have [been seeing each other], yes,” she says. “Because pictures don’t lie.”
Anna may be married now and out of the house, but Hale said she fears the worst for Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, who is 9-years-old and still in her mother’s custody.
Hale’s response when asked directly if she though her granddaughter was in danger she said, “Yes. The reason I say that is because that’s about the same age he likes. [The same age] he messed with Anna.”
Due to her concerns, Hale told ET that she had been contacted by Georgia’s Child Protective Services on Wednesday, saying, “The only thing I can tell you is that I said to please look into it carefully and closely. They assured me they would.”
