Now that Sam Smith is a pop sensation, you’d think he’d be perfectly happy with his life. But as is often the case with human beings, Sam wants more. But it isn’t more money and fame that Sam Smith is looking for. In fact, the five things Sam wants most in life are surprisingly mundane — the components of a more simple life that you wouldn’t expect of a superstar singer.

Sam Smith was interviewed by Teen Vogue magazine recently and asked what he wanted in the near or distant future. All of Sam’s responses are delightfully quaint, which may not surprise hardcore fans of his music. Sam Smith has earned a reputation as a romantic at heart, particularly with his hit single “Stay With Me” that has been exploding on the charts this year. So what is it that Sam Smith still wants from life?

“The idea of having a house, a kid, a husband and a dog… I love that,” said Sam. “I also really want to open a coffee and flower shop one day, probably in Italy.”

If Sam’s biggest desires seem humble, it’s because that’s the kind of guy he is. As if Sam Smith fans needed another reason to fall in love with him, he also admitted that his massive success hasn’t turned him into a snob.

“Just because you’re selling out shows, doesn’t mean you deserve better treatment than the person next door,” said the 22-year-old singer.”

You know Sam Smith is telling the truth about what he wants most because, above all, he claims to be honest. His music and lyrics have always been a true reflection of the real Sam Smith, according to him.

“I stand onstage and I wanna cry for the entire thing because people know my business. You all know me. You can read as many interviews as you want, but if you put on my record, I’m telling you, that is me.”

According to NewNowNext, Sam Smith got close to living that quaint life last year. He thought he had found his future husband, but the relationship didn’t work out.

“I fell in love with someone last year, and he didn’t love me back,” said Sam. “I deleted him off of WhatsApp, and it felt like I’d just broken up with him. On the record you can hear heartbreak, and there’s a beauty in that I will always treasure.”

Even though Sam Smith’s five biggest desires make for a happy, simple life, that doesn’t mean Sam doesn’t appreciate his pop stardom. In fact, before Smith became a famous musician, he admitted he wanted to be a pop star more than anything in the world.

“I wanted this so badly that I was willing to completely sell myself to become a pop star because I was poor,” said Sam. “No one was complimenting me anymore, so I started to lose my faith. I thought, ‘I’m going to have to dress a certain way, lose weight or sing a certain type of song.’ But the truth is, I was okay just as I was.”
