Jane Lynch Loses $1.2 Million In Divorce From Lara Embry
Jane Lynch finalized her divorce Monday from her wife of four years, Dr. Lara Embry. Freedom comes with a price, and this divorce was not cheap. Over two years, Embry will be rewarded $1.2 million plus half of other assets owned by the Glee actor.
TMZ reported official news of the judge’s ruling first. Their breakdown of the property settlement reveals that Lynch will lose half the amounts in bank accounts, Jane’s 401K, and tax refunds. That only covers some of the financial assets! Her ex-wife will also receive 50 percent of royalties from Jane’s future television appearances, including episodes of Glee. Lara will even get their dog, Francis.
Lynch is most famous for her role as Sue Sylvester in Glee. Before starring in the series, she acted in a number of small parts in popular television shows from Criminal Minds to Desperate Housewives and movies such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Role Models. Her ongoing stint as the loud, rude cheerleading coach made her a household name.
According to CBS News, Jane opened up to Larry King that she and her wife simply could not move forward in the same direction.
“It’s just two people who just decide it’s better to go apart than stay together. We have to remain adults, which we have.”
Jane’s interview with Larry in the clip below revealed that the star still remembered her marriage fondly, but that divorce is not easy, especially since she was close to Embry’s daughter.
The couple announced the split in July 2013 for irreconcilable differences. Last year, the Inquisitr covered initial reporting of the breakup, including Lara’s request for spousal support following the estrangement. Her ex-wife said that the couple would spend $40,000 a month on credit cards, and planned to spend the same after the divorce.
Jane supported the couple and Haden throughout the marriage. Lara even stayed in Jane’s house after the breakup. The actress had to look for other accommodations.
Jane and Lara married in June 2010. The ceremony was held at the Blue Heron Restaurant in Sunderland, Massachusetts. They met in 2009 at a fundraising event in San Francisco for the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and soon became close despite that they were living on opposite ends of the country.
With their year-long dispute finally behind them, Jane Lynch and Lara Embry can finally start to move on.
