Egypt Expelling 900 Palestinian Families From Their Homes Following Deadly Hamas-ISIS Massacre
Following a deadly attack by militants in the Sinai peninsula on Friday, which saw the death of at least 31 on-duty Egyptian soldiers with scores others injured, the Egyptian government is holding the terror network of Hamas, at least partially, responsible.
The attack, which took place in the El-Arish resort, was in fact a duel attack, with a suicide bombing at a checkpoint and a shooting in the city which Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis jihadists, members of a group sympathetic to ISIS, also attacked.
The Hamas involvement in the attacks is alleged to be the fact that they supplied the weapons used by the ISIS affiliated terrorists who received them via the complex labyrinth of Hamas tunnels which creep over Sinai’s border with Gaza.
For the Palestinian Gazan citizens who live on the Sinai border, life became complicated when Egyptian officials gave them 48 hours to evacuate their homes, although that period was reportedly later extended due to protests.
Some online commentators have noted that the whole incident has gone largely unnoticed in the mainstream media, suggesting that if it would have been Israel that issued such an evacuation of Palestinian citizens from their homes, world condemnation would have been forthcoming immediately.
The expulsion, which has been ordered by the Egyptian authorities, is part of a plan to create a “buffer zone” between the Sinai and Gaza and includes a land grab of around 1,650 feet of Palestinian land along an eight mile border, along with a 65-foot deep channel to prevent infiltration.
Of the nearly 900 Palestinian families living on the Sinai border, 200 have already accepted financial stipends from Egypt to relocate, while the rest are apparently refusing to leave.
Commentators have also noted that the Jewish State, which borders with Gaza, receive international condemnation in the strongest terms when they so much as defend their own citizens from Hamas rocket attacks, while the world remains quiet about substantial land grabs by Egypt, not to mention the expulsion of Palestinian families from their homes.
