WWE: CM Punk ‘WWE 2K15’ Video Leaked, Vince McMahon Censored The Hoodie?
A CM Punk WWE 2K15 video leaked by a lucky fan who managed to snag an advance copy shows off the match of CM Punk Vs. Randy Orton, but already some fans are complaining about the plain gray hoodie that CM Punk is shown wearing. There’s even a conspiracy theory going around that Vince McMahon had 2K Games censor CM Punk’s attire for the game.
In a related report by The Inquisitr, the latest WWE news going around the Chicago block says that the relationship between the WWE and CM Punk has only become worse with time. Chris Jericho also claims that CM Punk is leaving his wrestling friends behind.
Leading up to the WWE 2K15 release date, there were a lot of rumors flying around that CM Punk’s departure from the WWE might spell trouble for the game project, with some saying the game could be delayed. Fortunately, that was not the case, and it’s set to release on October 28, 2014.
But already we’re starting to get a taste of what the game will look like on the PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, and Xbox One. Apparently, the videos that are on YouTube show off the PlayStation 3 version, not any of the next generation platforms, but we can still see how CM Punk will appear in the game. There’s even a video that shows off the differences between WWE 2K14 and WWE 2K15.
But the change to CM Punk’s attire has some fans calling foul. For example, one YouTube user wrote specifically about the hoodie.
“D**n, I wanted CM Punk to wear a T-shirt better, way better than the d**n sweater. Hope he has multiple attires,so he could have a better entrance. I’m getting it on PS4, hopefully he has a way better entrance than this one.”
In fact, there are multiple attires for wrestlers in the WWE 2K15 roster. John Cena alone has four attires in the 2K Showcase story mode to match the rivalry he had with CM Punk, so there’s no worries there.
But Wrestling Inc. thinks Vince McMahon may have pulled some shenanigans with CM Punk WWE 2K15 appearance.
“It’s worth noting that Punk’s entrance is identical to his WWE 2K14 entrance except for the blank hoodie he’s wearing. WWE 2K14 featured a CM Punk logo hoodie and WWE usually doesn’t censor their own merchandise in games like that. It’s also worth noting that there are Punk shirts in the crowd.”
In the past, it’s been claimed the WWE is scrubbing CM Punk out of their history, and in September the WWE store had a fire sale on CM Punk items. At the time, it was rumored that Vince McMahon took this action since it was supposedly punk Punk in regards to royalties.
While CM Punk may not be on good terms with the WWE, it would seem unlikely this conspiracy is true. CM Punk often wore a plain gray hoodie throughout 2013, and he even sported a blue version at times. So just because a video game is mirroring reality does not mean Vince McMahon is the boogieman in the closet.
