Ewan McGregor On Certain ‘Star Wars’ Fans: ‘They’re Parasitical Lowlifes’

Actor Ewan McGregor opened up in a recent interview about his interactions with Star Wars fans, according to Details magazine.

According to the interview, which is published in the November 2014 issue, Ewan McGregor doesn’t have any experience with loyal fans of Star Wars.

“I don’t have any experience with them. I’ve never been to one of the conventions.”

On the contrary, Ewan McGregor then stated that the Star Wars fans that he interacts with are the “f**kers” that have their own ulterior motives for autographs and are even willing to harm children just to get his signature.

“The people I meet are the f**kers who want me to sign ‘Star Wars’ photos so they can sell them on the internet or the people at premieres who are crushing children against barriers to get me to sign their f**king picture of Obi-Wan Kenobi.”

The 43-year old actor believes that this particular group of Star Wars fans are not truly fans at all, but something different entirely.

“They’re not fans — they’re parasitical lowlifes and f**king wankers.”

Ewan McGregor was first introduced into the Star Wars spotlight when he was chosen to play Obi-Wan Kenobi in the 1999 film Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, directed by George Lucas himself. McGregor returned to play the same role in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones in 2002 as well as in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith in 2005.

Before Ewan McGregor wore the Jedi Master robe and beard of Obi-Wan Kenobi, actor Alec Guinness was known for his portrayal of the same character in the original trilogy.

During the six-year period of Star Wars movie releases from the prequel trilogy, Ewan McGregor was featured in quite a few hit movies with memorable roles — including Moulin Rouge!, Black Hawk Down, and Big Fish.

Back in April of 2012, Ewan McGregor took a much-needed break from acting — especially after being featured in close to 50 films in 20 years. According to an interview with Telegraph, McGregor believed that his four-month break was “lovely.”

“I felt like I just hadn’t stopped… I realised one day that I didn’t have to work if I didn’t want to. It was like the sky suddenly opening up. I called my wife and suggested that I didn’t work for the rest of the year. And it’s been lovely.”

Since that break ended, Ewan McGregor has been featured in such movies as Jack the Giant Slayer and August: Osage County. McGregor is currently starring on the Broadway stage in the play The Real Thing alongside Maggie Gyllenhaal, according to the New York Times.
