Lolo Jones Reveals Why She Feels Sympathy For Oscar Pistorius: Her Father Was Also A Killer

Lolo Jones doesn’t think that Oscar Pistorius is getting off easy for killing girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp — instead, she actually feels sympathetic toward her fellow former track and field star.

During a quick exchange with one of TMZ‘s employees, Jones revealed that she’s praying for Pistorius. Lolo was asked about her thoughts on the five-year sentence that was handed to the “Blade Runner,” and she made a surprising revelation about why she can’t pass judgment on Oscar.

“It’s hard for me because I actually have a dad who was in prison for murder. He served a life sentence but got out early on good parole [sic], so I’m one of the most non-judgmental people on people who are struggling.”

Lolo Jones went on to say that there’s “always two sides to the story,” and she stated that now Oscar Pistorius’ fate is “in God’s hands.” She explained that, as a Christian, she sees God as “the ultimate judge.”

As The Inquisitr previously reported, a different judge already played a part in deciding Oscar Pistorius’ fate — Judge Thokozile Matilda Masipa sentenced Pistorius to a maximum of five years for culpable homicide after a high-profile trial that garnered worldwide attention.

Pistorius shot and killed Reeva Steenkamp on February 14, 2013 while she hid in his bathroom. The South African sprinter fired at his girlfriend through the locked door, and he later contended that he thought Steenkamp was an intruder. Under South African law, it’s possible that Pistorius will serve just ten months in jail for killing Steenkamp. The rest of his sentence would be served under house arrest.

Lolo Jones has never revealed any details about how her father killed a man and ended up in jail, so her exchange with TMZ will likely shock a lot of people. However, the Olympian has talked about how her father introduced her to a life of crime when she was just a child. During an interview with TIME magazine, Lolo Jones revealed that her father taught her how to steal TV dinners in between his numerous stints in prison.

“My dad would always say they’re never going to suspect me because they never look at a cute young girl.”

The Oscar Pistorius case isn’t the only high-profile murder trial that Lolo Jones has weighed in on. According to Salon, the hurdler-turned-bobsledder caused a controversy last year when she compared Rachel Jeantel, a witness in the Trayvon Martin case, to Tyler Perry’s Madea character.

Are you surprised to learn about Lolo Jones’ father? What do you think of what she had to say about Oscar Pistorius?
