Although weeks have passed since Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O’Donnell got into a feud, the two ladies decided to publicly address the situation during a segment on The View .
Their initial spat, which happened because O’Donnell thought Goldberg was disrespecting her, occurred during a commercial break, so it’s a bit odd that the two ladies are only now addressing a moment that didn’t even make it on air.
During Friday morning’s show, Goldberg said, “This is a hard show to do and sometimes, all of us get a little stressed.” Nicole Wallace pointed out that they start every morning with a friendly kiss from Goldberg, noting that it’s still a nice atmosphere despite the arguments.
“We are affectionate with each other. People don’t like to lighten up on us because for some reason they’ve decided that women having any kind of discussion that are maybe a little louder, maybe a little more intense, is not OK. But it is OK because it’s human behavior. So yeah, we’re affectionate. Sometimes we bite. That’s what you do with family,” said Goldberg.
O’Donnell didn’t really say much on the matter, but did get a bit of a joke in there. “I want to admit, I’ve been in time out three times.”
So why bring this up now after all has been buried? You can argue with the enormous press the moment got, that it was worth talking about but Whoopi already did that earlier in the month , so it’s still a bit puzzling. Perhaps Rosie wanted to be present for a second discussion about their off-camera dispute?
As The Inquisitr reported, earlier in the month Goldberg spoke about the moment. In her comments to MSNBC ‘s Thomas Roberts, she also discussed how scrutinized the co-hosts of The View are on a daily basis, because of the media’s expectations of witnessing a catty girl fight.
“We’re trying to have a good time and do what we do. Here’s the thing — Like family, some days you’re cranky. There are four of us and some days we’re just cranky.”
She continued, “The difference is, there’s not four guys talking to each other and doing stuff. So they should just back off of us and see what we do and stop waiting for something to happen. I do think there’s a double standard. Nobody talks about ‘Hey, there’s a spat over at Sunday Morning.’”
