‘Once Upon A Time’: Who Will Regina Lose And How Does The Snow Queen Know Emma?
Once Upon a Time fans are dying to know how Emma Swan is connected to the Snow Queen, and it looks like they finally might learn how the two know each other in this week’s episode, “Breaking Glass.”
Actually, the Snow Queen knows Emma but Emma has no idea who the ice cream peddler is. It’s possible that Swan doesn’t recognize the icy sorceress because the two met when they were much younger. According to the International Business Times, Once Upon a Time is going to explore more of Emma’s parent-less past this week. In a fairy flashback, the “runaway orphan” is going to befriend a “kindred spirit.” Perhaps Emma’s pal grew up to become the Snow Queen, and maybe she’s so messed up because magic played a part in the loss of her own parents.
Elizabeth Mitchell’s evil, icy character isn’t just interested in Emma — she also has her sights set on Elsa. In a spooky teaser worthy of the weekend before Halloween, Elsa thinks she sees Anna walking toward her in a graveyard. However, it’s likely that the Snow Queen is just playing tricks on her.
The Snow Queen previously said that she’s Elsa’s aunt, but this probably isn’t true if she was friends with Emma once upon a time. Then again, there’s a slim possibility that Anna and Elsa’s grandparents discovered that the Snow Queen was magical when she was a baby, and perhaps they sent her off to grow up in Emma’s mostly magic-free world.
While the “Dairy Queen” is busy toying with Emma and Elsa, Regina will be hard at work tracking her down. And of course her idea of working hard is threatening people to do what she says — or else. A second teaser shows the Evil Queen ordering her Magic Mirror to find the Snow Queen. Regina loves Robin Hood so much that she’s doing whatever she can to break the icy curse that almost killed Maid Marian. She can’t save Marian herself, but she thinks she can force the Snow Queen to defrost Robin Hood’s wife.
Lana Parrilla talked to TV Line about Robin’s profession of love for Regina. The Evil Queen admires the outlaw for telling her that he’s an honorable man who wants to do the right thing by staying with his wife, and she wishes he would have said this without throwing in the bit about his true feelings for Regina.
“She finds it harder to walk away from him knowing what he feels about her.”
It looks like this week Regina is going to be too busy dealing with the Snow Queen to share any romantic moments with her outlaw true love.
Another Once Upon a Time promo shows Elsa in icy handcuffs kneeling before the Snow Queen. Elsa’s captor makes a Frozen reference by saying that she plans to build a snowman, and her sinister tone suggests that she’s not going to whip up a cute snowy sidekick like Olaf. Regina is shown fighting an ice monster with glowing blue eyes, horns, and an ax, so this might be the snowman created by Elizabeth Mitchell’s character.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Regina will “suffer a loss” during “Breaking Glass,” and the episode’s title might hint at who this loss will be — perhaps the Snow Queen will kill the man in the Evil Queen’s Magic Mirror.
It’s looks like there’s not going to be a big Rumple story this week, but Once Upon a Time in Wonderland fans will be happy to know that they’re getting more Will Scarlet. The crafty Knave manages to escape from jail, and Mary Margaret and David try to track him down while Belle babysits Neal. Perhaps taking care of the tot will make Mr. Gold’s bride start wanting a baby of her own — she just has to convince the Dark One to quit being so darned evil before they start talking about starting a family.
Once Upon a Time airs October 26 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
