Mama June Denies Rumors That She Is Dating A Child Molester

Mama June is being accused of dating a convicted child molester. Although the rumors were reported by several news agencies, Honey Boo Boo’s mother has denied the allegations. Mama June admits she previously dated the man. However, the relationship reportedly ended over 10 years ago.

The rumors began with an article posted by TMZ. According to the report, Mama June has been spending a lot of time with 53-year-old Mark McDaniel. In 2004, McDaniel was convicted of sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl. Although he spent nearly 10 years in prison, he was recently released.

The article explains that Mama June was dating McDaniel at the time of his arrest. According to reports, the 8-year-old girl was related to Honey Boo Boo’s mother. However, the child’s identity was not revealed.

As stated in the article, Mama June has been “seeing McDaniel for the last few months.” It is further alleged that she has been “sneaking away from production of the show and meeting up with him” and “setting him up by buying him various gifts.”

In response to the allegations, a TLC spokesperson reportedly said they “are very concerned about this new information and are reassessing the future of the series.”

Mama June responded to the allegations via Facebook. In the October 23 post, she vehemently denies having a romantic relationship Mark McDaniel. Honey Boo Boo’s mother said she would never date a convicted child molester, as her children are her “#1 priority.”

In an interview with Radar Online, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, 14, defended her mother against the allegations. According to Lauryn, Mama June has not seen or spoken to Mark McDaniel in 10 years.

Although TMZ included an incriminating photo with their article, Lauryn insists the photo was faked.

As reported by E! Online, Mark McDaniel’s son, Michael, confirmed that his father has not seen or spoken with Mama June in 10 years. Michael also believes the photo of his father with Mama June was Photoshopped.

Rumors that Mama June is dating a convicted child molester come one month after she announced her separation from Sugar Bear. In an official statement, Honey Boo Boo’s mother said she and her husband are simply taking “some time to figure out some things.”

Although the couple admitted that they are separated, both Mama June and Sugar Bear have vowed that their children “will always be [their] number one priority.”

Mama June said that dating a convicted child molester would put her children at risk, and she “would never put them in danger.”
