WWE Superstar and current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar is a guy we aren’t seeing much. Why is that? There are various reasons, but one could be the fact that they want to use his dates up wisely. As was reported previously, Brock and WWE came to terms on a new contract with more dates, a little while back. This allows Lesnar to work for WWE a lot more, but in sparring usage.
When he is not on TV, he will always be represented by Paul Heyman, who is under a regular yearly deal with WWE.
The problem with this is that while Brock Lesnar can have his time off, he is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. That hurts WWE, in that they are not putting a champ on TV each week or putting him on various PPVs. While most feel the WWE is doing this to save dates for Lesnar, the concept is that they are giving him time off here and there but they are not going to keep him off as long as people think.
The idea originally when WWE added more dates to Lesnar’s contract was that he could appear at random events when they felt they could use him. While everyone seems to complain about how Lesnar is used, the fact that ratings go up each time he is on the show proves that using him off and on is far more helpful than not. The issue is that the title stays with him and fans want to see the champion on every show. Which is understandable in theory.
It is being said that Lesnar is now in more discussions with WWE on adding more dates to his schedule. This is clearly something of note because of the recent UFC return rumors. Many would speculate that WWE wants to add as many dates as possible so that Lesnar couldn’t leave WWE any time soon to join the UFC again.
Due to the fact that WWE can use Lesnar whenever they feel like it until his dates run out, there would be absolutely no way Lesnar could return to UFC next year or potentially the year after. Most feel if he were to go back, due to the amount of dates WWE has added or could be adding, Lesnar may not be able to join UFC until around 2017.
This would not be good for UFC, as it would be getting an older Lesnar around age 40. There is also no indication that Lesnar wants to return, regardless of what people claim. Until Paul Heyman or Lesnar himself says something about a return, it is not likely.
The fact that Lesnar has accepted more dates to his contract along with the fact that he could be in discussions for more means that Lesnar is good with WWE for now.
Now comes the wonderment regarding his schedule. When will WWE use him? Due to the fact that WWE is making a number one contenders match at Hell in a Cell between Randy Orton and John Cena, along with the fact that Paul Heyman is back on TV reminding us of Lesnar….there is a pretty big indication that Lesnar could return to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Title at Survivor Series next month.
The rumored concept is to have him be at Survivor Series, skip the TLC PPV, then work every PPV until after WrestleMania 31. Then he’d miss the summer and do whatever Brock Lesnar does in that time. Of course, WWE could keep him off until the Royal Rumble PPV as well. However, most expect a Survivor Series return due to it being a Big 4 PPV with WWE.
The new deal he has made with WWE and the fact that can use up those dates at any time virtually kills any UFC return rumors , especially regarding a return next year. The company would still have dates to use up in 2016 as well. So Lesnar is a WWE guy right now. Paul Heyman claimed a while back that if Lesnar was not enjoying what he was doing, he would not be doing it. That being said, at least we know The Beast loves his job. However, he likes his time off and privacy just as much. This is why he seemingly enjoys his WWE schedule it seems, he gets to kick tail every few months and only works television. Then goes home for a while. Sounds good to me.
