WWE: Brock Lesnar Skips Smackdown, WWE Wants More TV Matches Despite Dean Ambrose’s Doubts
Reports are claiming Brock Lesnar was a no show for a taping of WWE Smackdown, where it was seemingly advertised he would be present. When Dean Ambrose was asked about Lesnar skipping out on Smackdown, the wrestler pretty much admitted the WWE Universe won’t be seeing much of the Beast Incarnate.
In a related report by The Inquisitr, retired UFC fighter Shane Carwin says he’d love to be on the match card for Brock Lesnar’s UFC return but he also doubts that the Beast could keep up with newer MMA fighters, saying, “The guys these days are too far ahead. You can’t be one-dimensional. This isn’t the early ’90s.”
Brock Lesnar is MIA and it’s been rumored that Paul Heyman has been told to put a sock in it. Any time Heyman speaks, it’s a constant reminder that the Beast will be a continual no-show for the rest of 2014, with reports originally claiming Lesnar may not return until Royal Rumble 2015, although another report claims Brock will be on Monday Night RAW in December. The rumors also state that Vince McMahon is holding back Brock from showing up due to his high per-show cost, which only causes problems at time when the WWE Network is suffering budget problems and can’t even break even financially.
Brock Lesnar was advertised for last night’s SmackDown tapings in Wichita, Kansas for both the arena website and a WWE commercial. Lesnar’s name was eventually removed from the website and apparently the WWE took the YouTube video down earlier today, but there was no official WWE announcement about Lesnar not being there for Smackdown’s taping and no refunds were offered.
According to Comcast, Dean Ambrose was asked about what he thought about Brock Lesnar being a part-timer and not appearing for all of the major events.
“Every show, and we run a lot of them, doesn’t have to have a world championship match on it. Every Monday Night Raw shouldn’t have a world championship match. But, the champion not appearing at all? To me, it’s not nearly as big of a thing … I equate it back to the traveling world champions of the 70s or previous eras. You’re not going to see a world title match every week. I honestly think we give away too much stuff. We give away a lot of wrestling on TV and there’s so much time to fill. In a three-hour show, Brock Lesnar could really be used. I’m making up my answers as I go along here. You’re not going to see him much. He took the belt back to his castle and he locked it up in the attic. You’ve got to go a long way to get a championship match with him.”
It’s possible that Vince McMahon and Triple H are starting to realize that fans are starting to get a little irked. According to Wrestling Inc, while “WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar was not scheduled for either Survivor Series or TLC as of this past weekend, WWE officials are in talks regarding more TV dates for Lesnar to build up his 2015 Royal Rumble match.”
Do you think Brock Lesnar should defend his title at least once on Friday Night SmackDown or Monday Night RAW?
