Selena Gomez recently spoke of wanting to spend time with people who made her “better” and would “motivate” her.
Enter stage left, the Dalai Lama, who won the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize and is the leading advocate for freedom for Tibetans worldwide.
The 22-year-old actress-singer met the Buddhist head during Tuesday rehearsals for the We Day Vancouver event in Canada, which she is hosting today.
The youth empowerment movement is also holding conferences in eleven cities across the U.S. and Canada.
Later, Selena posted an Instagram photo of her encounter with the Dalai Lama.
She is seen beaming as the monk cupped the back of her head with his right hand and touched her throat with his left.
The “Come and Get” songstress captioned the perhaps once in a lifetime moment, “words of wisdom. #speechless.”

Gomez hit the headlines earlier this week, when she was seen on Monday at LAX airport in Los Angeles with the actor, Orlando Bloom , who is a guest speaker at We Day.
The sighting of Selena and Orlando — who previously tried to punch the starlet’s former beau Justin Bieber back in July in Ibiza, Spain, reportedly over a 2012 flirtation with his ex-wife, supermodel Miranda Kerr — has sparked dating rumors .
At LAX , Gomez was accompanied by Justin’s close pal, the videographer Alfredo Flores, while Bloom walked just a few feet away with an unidentified woman.
The Latina and the Brit were previously rumored to be dating after they went to a Chelsea Handler show in Los Angeles in April. At the time, sources told E! News that was not the case and that the pair had simply gone out in a large group of friends.
Yesterday, E! confirmed Selena and Orlando are not dating, and previously noted the two stars share a mutual manager in Aleen Keshishian of Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

Of their flight, a source told the outlet, “They flew on the same flight to Vancouver.”
The insider added, “They were in the lounge together before and walked together to the plane but separated when they saw photographers.”
Meanwhile, Selena posted a few shots from her rehearsals at We Day to her Instagram account.
One of these showed her in a meeting with staff.
Another, revealed her standing onstage at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver holding a mic.
Selena’s caption read, “We Day. Ready for mañana x.”
The young UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador also posted a cue cards shot, tagged to Flores.
The Dalai Lama also visited the John Oliver Secondary in Vancouver on Tuesday, ahead of his Heart-Mind Summit at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The 79-year-old will also speak at the University of British Columbia on Thursday, to speak about compassion.
Funds raised from the UBC event will benefit an effort to settle 1,000 displaced Tibetans in Canada.
Selena Gomez and the Dalai Lama. Now there’s a sentence you don’t read everyday.
