Sonja Morgan Is “Excited” About Bethenny Frankel’s ‘RHONY’ Return

Sonja Morgan is excited to welcomed Bethenny Frankel back to The Real Housewives of New York City. On Monday, following the official announcement of Frankel’s return, Morgan spoke out, gushing over Frankel and what she’ll bring to the show for season seven.

“I emailed Bethenny when I saw that Andy Cohen was having discussions with her about coming back because I was very excited at the notion for obvious reasons,” Morgan told Star Magazine on October 20. “She has star power, charisma, a great sense of humor… and she doesn’t take herself too seriously.”

On Monday, October 20, Frankel released a statement confirming she would return to The Real Housewives of New York City for the series’ upcoming season. In her statement, Frankel explained that while she had been hesitant to return to the show in the past, she’s now in a good place and ready to give reality television another shot.

After leaving the show following its third season, Frankel went on to star in her own show, Bethenny Getting Married?, which was later renamed Bethenny Ever After.

“I love the fact that she gets me,” Sonja Morgan continued of Bethenny Frankel. “She understands what it’s like to be a divorced mom and she knows what it means to work hard for your money. Nothing has ever been handed to Bethenny.”

“I’m just very excited today to know that she is coming back and I’m sure the viewers are elated. When Bethenny answered my e-mail, she said I would be just fine at the helm, but we will all be much better off with Bethenny on the show,” Morgan said. “I personally feel like it’s a lot for me and Ramona Singer because we film more than the other girls. Now, Bethenny can take a bite out of that apple.”

Weeks ago, Sonja Morgan spoke to Tom Murro about the possibility of Frankel rejoining the cast.

“I heard the rumors the Bethenny could be considering coming back,” Morgan said, according to an October 8 report by Reality Tea. “Would be a breath of fresh air. I could use a good sense of humor in the bunch!”

“We always have fun together. She’s a good egg and doesn’t take herself so seriously,” Morgan explained. “I also love that Bethenny gives me creative license to be myself but at the same time gives me a motherly nudge to stand up for myself. She reminds me that I know what I’m doing for myself and my family. To not let anyone tell me otherwise.”

Sonja Morgan and the rest of the cast of The Real Housewives of New York City will return to Bravo sometime next year.
