Chelsea Handler ‘Doesn’t Mind’ Being Nude, Sharing Naked Photos
If you followed Chelsea Handler’s long-running E! show Chelsea Lately, you more than likely caught the hilarious nude shower scene from the show’s finale featuring Handler and fellow comedian Ellen DeGeneres. The pair reunited on Ellen’s talk show to discuss the bit, and Handler revealed just how much she loves to be naked.
Chelsea described how the shower scene came to be, saying that though DeGeneres had agreed to appear in the skit, she refused to be naked. As a result of Ellen’s hesitation, Handler took one for the team and went nude on her own. The star jokingly claimed that being the only one to go nude left her feeling ashamed.
“You don’t know what it feels like to be in a shower naked with someone you respect and admire and you have clothes on and I don’t. That was a very low point in my life,” Chelsea told Ellen.
In actuality, Handler apparently loves to be naked on camera.
“I think it’s very empowering for me. I like to be naked because I don’t take my body seriously. People do, and that’s nice for them, but I think bodies are so silly,” Handler said. “[My breasts] are the best thing I have going on my body so I like to take them out whenever I can and be like, ‘Hey look, just pretend this is my whole face.'”
Chelsea even addressed a photo that she infamously tweeted in which the 39-year-old exposed herself.
“I have a thing with my friends where they think we’re taking a beautiful photo, like in Africa, or the Sahara, but then all of a sudden I take my boob out,” Handler explained. “They don’t know I’ve taken my boob out until we get the photo back, so it’s not funny for everyone but it’s funny for me. So my friend said, ‘Chelsea, please stop doing that, we need real photos we can put up in our houses, if you do that again, I’m going to tweet it.’ And I was like, ‘I’ll tweet it,’ so I did.”
Handler told Ellen that she has so many revealing pictures of herself that if she was ever the victim of phone hacking, she’d be in pretty big trouble. Rather than risk someone else getting their hands on racy photos, the comedian says she decided to take matters into her own hands.
“I just started sending more out,” Chelsea said. “No one is ever going to make money from a naked picture of me because I’ll sell it to you for free.”
Chelsea Handler ended her E! show this past summer, and is set to star in Netflix’s first ever talk show. Chelsea recently released her first standup special, Uganda Be Kidding Me.
