International pop star Lady Gaga opened up about sexism and misogyny in the music industry in a recent interview with The Times over in the United Kingdom.
Gaga explained in the interview that during the early stages of her career she consonantly had awful experiences with men in the studio, and had to deal with a lot of uncomfortable situations.
“It made me very uncomfortable. I didn’t feel like I was being cherished for my vocal talents but was seen more as someone to take advantage of. I don’t have to elaborate, but when women who are in the business that are young read this article I hope they realize that you do not have to put up with that.”
Lady Gaga has previously touched upon the subject of sexual abuse during her song ‘Swine’, where she makes references to troubling and challenging sexual abuse experiences earlier in her life.

In the last several months it seems that Gaga has had a lot of negative things to say about the music industry. Just last month she took a shot at pop music in general, saying that it has become “quite trashy” .
Gaga has made several odd statements that could be very damaging to the music industry. Furthermore, Gaga criticizing pop music in general and where it’s at today is quite puzzling since she is one of the artists that helped take it to the place that it is today.
The pop stars latest project entitled ‘Cheek to Cheek’, an album that Gaga and Tony Bennett collaborated on was released back on September 19, and is receiving generally positive reviews.
Before working on ‘Cheek to Cheek’, Gaga claimed that she was having trouble finding the motivation to create anything new, and was possibly done with the music industry forever.
“Six months ago I didn’t even want to sing anymore. It stung. I tell Tony every day that he saved my life. I was so sad. I couldn’t sleep. I felt dead. And then I spent a lot of time with Tony. He wanted nothing more than my friendship and my voice.”
Lady Gaga is currently touring Europe, which concludes on November 24 in Paris, France.
