Lisa Robertson Is Quitting QVC After 20 Years On The Air
Lisa Robertson, the long-time QVC host, is leaving the shopping channel.
Robertson, 48, has been with the channel since 1995 and is arguably the most popular personality on, if not the face of, the West Chester, Pa.-based network itself. Robertson’s star power has drawn an estimated 20 million viewers per week to QVC for her various shows, which includes The Lisa Robertson Show.
Her last QVC appearance is scheduled for December 12.
Over the years, Robertson apparently developed a strong bond with QVC viewers, particularly in the fashion arena, and her surprise resignation prompted a strong reaction on social media.
The initials QVC stand for “quality, value, convenience.”
A former Miss Tennessee and trained classical violinist, Lisa Robertson worked at two other shopping channels before joining QVC in 1995.
According to E!Online, “Robertson earned thousands of fans for her quick wit and love for all things fashion and beauty. Some of her most popular shows include PM Style, Friday Night Beauty and Ask Lisa About Style.”
In a video message to fans prior to the network’s beauty awards broadcast, she briefly announced her decision to exit QVC.
“Over the last 20 years, I have loved being with you on QVC. Tonight, I’m here to tell you that I’ve decided after a lot of thought, because I do love you, that I’m going to be leaving QVC in December. I wanted to let you know so we’d all have time to talk, and adjust, and kind of figure things out and hopefully stay in touch afterwards. And that is the announcement for this evening. That’s not what this evening is about. It is about our amazing beauty awards. But now you know, and I hope we will talk soon.”
In a blog post on QVC’s website, Robertson thanked all her fans for their kindness, support and friendship, and further explained, without being specific about a new gig, that she is seeking a new professional adventure.
The QVC diva wrote in part…
“After a lot of soul-searching I have decided that I will be leaving QVC. It is time for a new challenge and a new adventure. Although it is a little scary to leave what you have always known, I am very excited about what lays ahead. My greatest hope is that the friends that I have made here will continue to be my friends in the future. There are many people that I work with that I care for deeply and will miss seeing on a regular basis, but I know that we will make time for each other in our lives. Although I will miss talking to you on a regular basis through your television, I do hope that you will find time for me in your life in the future as well…
Separately, according to various media outlets, Lisa Robertson has allegedly been a stalking victim during her TV career. “In court documents… Robertson, who lives in Chester County, alleges that she has secretly lived in constant fear of one of a number of men who have reportedly been obsessed with her during her time with the network,” ABC News reported earlier this year.
