A trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron screened over the weekend at the New York Comic Con. Some of the footage was from scenes that were previewed back in July at the San Diego Comic-Con, but some of it was brand new.
Beware! Here be spoilers !
According to Stitch Kingdom , Marvel brought not only new Avengers footage , but also a tidbit from the upcoming Ant-Man film as well.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer opens with the Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man, Bruce Banner, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Thor, all of whom are in a room apparently after a battle (see above picture).
Tony Stark, (Robert Downey Jr.) and James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) are trying to lift Thor’s hammer with the assistance of their Iron Man technology, (Stark comments, “If I lift this, I get to rule Asgard?”) but neither budges it. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) sits back, unimpressed as she watches the men compete while sipping a beer. Captain America (Chris Evans) attempts to lift the hammer. Cap is the only one to move the hammer, just an inch-or-so, much to Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) dismay.
Cut to Ultron (voiced by James Spader) busting in and calling them killers.
The second half of the trailer is set to the whimsical tune of “Got No Strings” from Disney’s Pinocchio (a clear nod to Ultron’s AI) and is reportedly non-stop action. As I said, much of this was shown in San Diego, but it sounds like there is a bit that was not.
The trailer shows the Hulk fighting different members of the Avengers, including Iron Man in Hulkbusting Armor(!). He also is shown fighting Vision (Paul Bettany) — which wasn’t shown in San Diego according to Cinema Blend .
The very end of the trailer ends with a shot of the Avengers scattered on a hill. Iron Man walks through the bodies while looking up at something ominous, and Captain America’s shield is shattered.
Speculation has been running rampant on the internet as to when Marvel is actually going to release this trailer into the world. Robert Downey Jr. got everyone’s hopes up last month when he posted a picture on his twitter account (wearing a Black Sabbath Iron Man tee-shirt) that everyone should tune in the following day for a big surprise. It turned out to be the trailer for his film, The Judge . Bummer.
The other big footage released in New York this weekend was from Ant-Man .
As the scene opens, we hear the voice of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) introducing himself to a tiny Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) as Ant-Man. Pym reportedly introduces Lang to a fly that seems immense to the tiny Ant-Man, telling him that the fly can take him wherever he needs to go.
Ant-Man is coming to theaters on July 17, 2015, and Avengers: Age of Ultron will be released on May 1, 2015.
