Misty Upham, Native American Actress, Missing From Home
Misty Upham, a well-known Native American actress, is missing, according to a report by Indian Country Today Media Network. The 32-year-old missing actress was last seen leaving her sister’s apartment on foot in Muckleshoot on Sunday, October 5, 2014. The last thing that Misty Upham stated was that she was headed to visit some friends. No one has heard from her since that time. According to police records, a missing person’s report has been filed with the Auburn police department in Washington. Misty Anne Upham’s father, Charles Upham, released the following to statement to media outlets regarding his daughter’s strange disappearance, according to Just Jared.
“Award Winning Native Actress, Misty Upham-best known for her roles in: August Osage County, Jimmy P and Frozen River, is a Missing Person. She disappeared on Sunday, October 5, 2014. She was last seen walking from her sister’s apartment in Muckleshoot, Washington. Misty is considered an endangered missing person due to a medical condition. She has not been in contact with her family or friends since her disappearance. If anybody has any information or has been in contact with Misty since October 5, 2014. You are asked to contact the Auburn police department (253) 288-2121, case no. 14-13189.”
Misty Upham’s friends and family are disseminating information on social media, such as Facebook to help spread the word about their missing love one, though the family has decided to terminate raising funds due to negative comments, as stated on their Facebook page. Friends of Misty Upham describe her as a talented actress and a troubled soul, whose smile can warm “the iciest heart.” The family is hoping that she is taking some time for herself but say that it is unlikely that she would leave her loving parents without being in contact with them.
Update: In the latest report by the Hollywood Reporter, Charles Upham has stated that his daughter may be suicidal, citing a recent change in her medications as a reason for her mental instability.
“She told me and her mom that we didn’t have to worry about her any more. … I thought it sounded suicidal myself, so I called the police. She’s always been a suicidal person.”
Though the Frozen River actress has a history of making suicidal threats, her family is hopeful that she will be found safe.
