Grant Gustin Is ‘The Flash’ In CW’s New ‘Arrow’ Spin-Off

Grant Gustin debuted as The Flash, an Arrow spin-off, on Tuesday night. The much anticipated pilot of this new superhero series kept the audience riveted with action and drama during its first episode and ended the night with an interesting cliffhanger that warrants many questions.

The 24-year-old made an impressive debut in the series pilot episode, playing the fastest man alive with a combination of vulnerability and strength, to make for a pretty believable superhero.

You may recognize Grant Gustin from his time in the musical show Glee, where he played the sassy Sebastian Smythe. Yes, he can also sing. He was the captain of the Dalton Academy Warblers and displayed his amazing vocal range during Season 3 as well as some episodes of Seasons 4 and 5.

In his Twitter account, he describes himself as follows, “I used to pretend I was Superman and Danny Zuko. I’m pretty much still doing the same thing.” But said he felt completely surprised when he was chosen to star in the The Flash, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“If it had been a team of people that didn’t know what they were doing, I probably wouldn’t have gotten this role because they would have just cast a blond guy who was buff. They were looking for somebody who encompassed the heart of Barry Allen and at first, I didn’t realize it. Now that I’ve explored the character, the comics, read the scripts and talked to (the producers), I understand why I got this role. It will probably forever be my favorite character that I’ll ever get to play.”
