Gwyneth Paltrow: ‘Obama Drone’ Posters Appear In Her Neighborhood, Preempting Obama Fundraiser
As hostess of an upcoming dinner and reception that will will feature President Obama and be held in her home, Gwyneth Paltrow certainly had enough to worry about without waking up this week to find posters all over her neighborhood calling her an “Obama Drone.”
The posters have preempted Ms. Paltrow’s upcoming fundraiser which the actress is putting on with President Obama to raise money for the Democratic National Committee, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The conservative leaning Los Angeles street artist behind the posters remains an enigma, but goes by the name Sabo and maintains a very active social media presence as Unsavoryagents via both Facebook and Twitter.
Along with Gwyneth Paltrow, other targets of Sabo’s street art have included Alec Baldwin, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart and even President Obama himself.
On his Unsavoryagents Facebook page, Sabo the street artist gives a peek behind the scenes of posting his Gwyneth Paltrow-themed Obama Drone art. As with many guerrilla style endeavors, Sabo’s possibly being confronted by police, caught and/or arrested, appear to be very real concerns, but also welcome risks that reflect his passion for his work.
“THE OTHER NIGHT I WAS LUCKY TO ONLY HAVE TWO COPS DRIVE BY WHILE I WORKED. I SWEAR ONE OF THEM HAD TO OF SEEN ME. I WAS HIDING BEHIND THE BOX WITH TWO CARS COMING AT ME FROM DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS ONE OF WHICH WAS A POLICE CAR. IT TURNED IN TOWARDS ME. AT THE TIME I DIDN’T KNOW IT WAS A COP UNTIL AFTER IT SLOWLY PASSED. WHILE IT WAS DRIVING PAST I WAS THINKING WHO EVER IT WAS THEY WERE READING THE POSTER. THANK GOD THEY KEPT GOING. THE LITTLE VOICE KEPT TELLING ME, ‘TIME TO GO HOME MAN, TIME TO GO HOME. YOU’RE PUSHING YOUR LUCK, YOU ARE ON PROBATION, YOU CAN’T GET CAUGHT, GO HOME.’ THAT MY FRIENDS IS WHAT’S CALLED PUTTING YOUR (N*TS) WHERE YOUR POLITICS IS. [sic]”
Sabo’s posters featuring Gwyneth Paltrow appear on the heals of her return to Los Angeles, according to The American Spectator. Paltrow’s almost 10-year absence from the U.S. was welcomed by many, but now after her “conscious uncoupling” from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, she is back in Los Angeles.
Whether or not Sabo has more street art to post in advance of Gwyneth Paltrow and President Obama’s weekend fundraiser remains to be seen.
