Jessica Alba just doesn’t seem to age, so when she dishes beauty tips, you better believe that women are going to take notes.
The Sin City: A Dame to Kill For star has skin to kill for, and she was kind enough to share some of the secrets behind her flawless face during a recent interview with the Telegraph . Jessica Alba revealed that caring for her glowing complexion is the most important part of her beauty routine.
“It’s my number one beauty priority. I truly believe that having glowing skin can help you wear so many different looks; it also gives me an extra confidence booster going about my day to day if I know my skin looks great.”
Luckily, Jessica Alba just happened to discover that her own company makes a great lotion that can be used on the face and the body. Slathering one moisturizer everywhere can really cut down on the time it takes to get ready in the morning, which leads to less stress. And guess what less stress leads to? Better skin.
The lotion Jessica Alba loves is The Honest Company’s Face and Body Lotion . It’s a hypoallergenic, vegan product that contains no harsh chemicals. This makes it perfect for sensitive skin. It moisturizes with an antioxidant-rich blend of organic shea, safflower, jojoba, and olive oils. Aloe, calendula, and chamomile soothe the skin. The moisturizer costs just under $10, making it just as affordable as drugstore brands.
Jessica Alba also has some beauty tips for gals who are fans of DIY treatments . She shared one of her favorite homemade face masks recipes with Dr. Oz, and it’s extremely simple to make. All you have to do is mix together 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt, one tablespoon coffee, one tablespoon coconut oil, and a squirt of lemon juice. Gently massage the mixture on your face and neck, leaving it on for about ten minutes. Use a damp rag to wipe the mixture off for smoother, clearer skin.
When it comes to hair care, Alba recommends ditching your shampoo, which is likely loaded with harsh detergents and chemicals. She suggests rinsing hair with a mixture of one cup water and two tablespoons apple cider vinegar. Just make sure you rinse your hair thoroughly to get rid of that strong vinegar smell.
During an interview with Lucky magazine, Jessica Alba revealed that she also likes using coconut oil to moisturize the tips of her hair, but this isn’t the only use she has found for the versatile oil with an amazing tropical scent.
“I also love using coconut oil as an at-home treatment. It’s great for the ends of your hair, you can throw a little bit in your bath [for all-over moisture], or rub it directly on super-dry areas like the bottom of your feet or hands.”
Alba told the Telegraph that her hair has a tendency to “freak out,” and she’s discovered that it stays calmer when she avoids irons and copious amounts of hair products. However, for really bad hair days, she recommends that women invest in a few fabulous hats.
“My love of hats is also a lifesaver – no one can really tell whether it’s about the hat or the hair underneath it!”
When it comes to the products that Alba can’t live without whenever she goes out, there are three things that must be in her bag: her Braun Satin-Hair 7 brush, mascara, and lip balm (here’s a cool trick to try if brushing your hair isn’t making it look smoother: rub a little lip balm on your hands and use it to gently smooth down fly-aways).
Jessica Alba obviously has some awesome beauty tips, but her best advice is this: “Find one thing that you love about yourself every day.” When you love yourself, you’ll look and feel better.
