Roman Reigns is supposed to be the next big thing in professional wrestling. Aside from his star-studded lineage, Reigns carries the look, charisma and wrestling skills to back up what the critics are throwing down. There will come a day when John Cena retires from the WWE, and then, chaos will presumably settle in. What will they do without Cena? That is where Reigns comes in to save the day.
Yes, Reigns will become Cena 2.0. They will push him to the moon and back, while the WWE Universe complains about how Rollins and Ambrose continue to get buried every week. Just imagine what it will be like in 2017 when Reigns is an 8-time WWE champion?
Regardless, Reigns’ rise to the top came to screeching halt when emergency surgery to fix a hernia arose out of nowhere. While he rehabs and heals from the operation, the WWE teased last week that Reigns will be live. However, just like his cousin, the Rock, they will be on Raw the only way they know how.
“As we previously noted, Roman Reigns will be in NYC for Ringside Fest this weekend, which lead to speculation that he could be available to appear live on Raw Monday night in Brooklyn. According to F4WOnline.com, however, the current plan is to air Roman Reigns’ appearance on Raw via satellite, and as of now Reigns is not scheduled to actually appear live on the show.
This begs the million-dollar question; when will Reigns finally be back on Monday Night Raw? Nobody really knows the timetable for his injury. As long as he is back by Survivor Series, I don’t think the WWE wants to rush him back anytime soon. Believe it or not, there is a tiny chance Dean Ambrose will steal his spot in the WrestleMania 31 main-event.
Yes, it sounds crazy, but the work Ambrose has done in the past month is no-less than exceptional. The pops he is receiving are deafening in every arena around the country. Just wait until Ambrose feuds with Cena and beats him. Then, his ascension to the top will be complete.
Back to Reigns for a moment; his WrestleMania 31 opponent is still up in the air. There is no way Reigns faces somebody like Stone Cold Steve Austin, but a fan can dream can’t they? For my money, Ambrose should fight for the WWE championship at WrestleMania 31.
There is something about Reigns that doesn’t fit. His mic skills are mediocre at-best. Does the WWE want a champion that can’t speak? Brock Lesnar is an exception because of his size, charisma and Paul Heyman’s mouth.
Reigns doesn’t have a Heyman. One thing WWE needs to work on is Reigns’ microphone skills. If they don’t, Reigns will be booed more than cheered. He is supposed to be a babyface champion, right?
