Norman Reedus Talks Possibility Of Daryl Dixon Being Gay, Weird ‘Walking Dead’ Fans
Norman Reedus is probably getting tired of talking about Daryl Dixon’s sex life.
The Walking Dead star’s popular character hasn’t hooked up with anyone on the show, but Daryl has been flirty with Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride). Even though he seems to be a fan of the fairer sex, some fans of The Walking Dead think that Daryl Dixon might be gay.
Norman Reedus tackled the romance question for the upteenth time during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. He was asked if Daryl Dixon is gay, if he’s pining for Beth, or if he’s ready to resume his flirtations with Carol during Season 5.
“Whatever that decision is, I want to play it as real as possible. When a boy meets a girl, it’s usually very awkward, and I would like to play the awkwardness up as much as possible.”
Norman Reedus’ answer makes it sound like no decision has yet been made about the future of Daryl Dixon’s love life. Norman talks about a boy meeting a girl, so perhaps he’s implying that Daryl is going to fall for someone who fans of The Walking Dead haven’t met yet. However, it’s also possible that he’s talking about things getting awkward when he’s reunited with Carol—as the Inquisitr previously reported, there will be some interaction between “Pookie” and Carol during Season 5.
If Reedus’ character does find love this season, don’t expect The Notebook or Fifty Shades of Grey.
“I don’t think Daryl’s the type of romantic guy who’s going to throw you up against a tree in the moonlight, you know what I mean? I think it’s going to be as awkward as possible.”
Daryl Dixon might end up being unlucky in love this season, but Norman’s character has helped him win millions of real-life admirers. Reedus listed off the names that a few of his fans have given themselves: Dixon’s vixens, Daryl’s Dolls, and Norman’s Nymphos. Last night he also talked to Jimmy Kimmel about some of his strangest fan encounters, including the time one fan eagerly introduced him to her pet chicken. According to Just Jared, he also revealed that two girls from Tokyo tried to bottle his breath.
Norman’s fans might be an odd bunch, but he refers to them as “my people.” He’ll even hold their trench coat chickens if they ask him to.
Reedus also told Kimmel that Suzanne Somers is one of his biggest celebrity crushes, and he showed off his book of incredible fan art.
Hopefully Norman Reedus fans won’t have a reason to start rioting when The Walking Dead returns on October 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
