Joran Van Der Sloot’s Baby Is Born: Convicted Killer Welcomes Baby Girl With Wife Leidy Figueroa

Joran van der Sloot is a father now that his Peruvian wife has given birth. Van der Sloot has been in prison since being convicted of killing Stephany Flores in 2010. He recently married Leidy Figueroa, and now she has given birth to van der Sloot’s baby girl.

Joran Van der Sloot and Leidy Figueroa got married in July, just before he was sent to a different high-security prison in the Andes. He had allegedly gotten into a fight with another prisoner at the facility where he was, and he is also said to have threatened to kill the warden there. A bizarre video came out shortly after he arrived at the new prison, keeping the convicted killer in the headlines.

Joran, 27, remains the prime suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. The Alabama teen vanished during a trip to Aruba in 2005. It is known that van der Sloot was with her the night that she disappeared, but he has never faced charges in her case. He maintains that he doesn’t know what happened to her.

Eventually, van der Sloot may be extradited to the United States to face charges that he defrauded and extorted Natalee’s mother. He had promised Beth Holloway information about where Natalee’s body was in exchange for money. He was sent $25,000 in cash and soon after that he went to Peru. That is where he met and killed Stephany Flores.

While Joran van der Sloot may eventually face charges in the U.S., the Peruvian government has said they will not send him until after he serves his sentence for the murder of Flores. That means it may well be 2038 before a case in the U.S. moves forward with charges.

As for van der Sloot’s wife, she recently told the Daily Mail that her husband is kind, sensitive and gentle. Figueroa says that Joran has changed in the four years since they met, and he is not a monster. She adds that he is seeking forgiveness for what he has done. Some might say that if he were sincere in seeking forgiveness and becoming a changed man, he should finally share what he knows about where Natalee Holloway is.

Some have said that the convicted killer may have ulterior motives in marrying and fathering a child in Peru as it could be a tactic to prevent extradition. News that Joran van der Sloot is a father now likely makes many cringe, and people will be curious to see what happens from here.
