Satan is providing one hell of an anti-endorsement for the new Left Behind movie, which reboots the popular Christian franchise with Nicolas Cage playing the role of an airline pilot named Rayford Steele. And, yes, we presume Jesus is his co-pilot.
In a related report by The Inquisitr , Satan does say read this article where a guy claims Jesus Christ is a myth or perhaps even propaganda created by the Roman empire as a nefarious plot. Satan also recommends sleeping in Dracula’s castle or owning a haunted house , which is great since Nicolas Cage did all those things.
The marketing machine behind the Left Behind is recruiting Satan for making what is probably the most interesting pitch for a movie ever seen. Calling on a little reverse psychology, the movie’s Facebook page proudly proclaims the comment of a very particular devil.
“‘Please do not bring unbelievers to this movie.’ – Satan”
The movie is being used as a platform for evangelism and, yes, Christians are being encouraged to bring your friendly neighborhood atheists, Muslims, and pagans to the Left Behind release date. Satan also doesn’t want you to listen to Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson , who believes the experience “would encourage atheists and non-Christians to convert.”.
“Like most Christians, my family and I can truly say that we’re excited about the soon return of Jesus,” he says. “And I’m sure if you’ve been watching the news lately, you know that that return could be any day now. It’s a warning to those, if it happened today, would be left behind, and I believe people are going to make that life-changing decision to follow Christ on the way home from the theater on Oct. 3.”
At this point, you may be wondering why Satan didn’t want a reboot of Left Behind . According producer and writer Paul Lalonde the reason they restarted the franchise was because they wanted to give more time to the rapture.
“[T]he first movie was based on the entire first book in the series, so a book this fat turned into a screen play with 57 plot points and no real time to get to know the characters. And the quintessential event that triggers all of Bible prophecy is the rapture — and that got like three minutes of screen time in the first movie.”
Oh, and Satan also says do not read this article. But if that advice has you “left behind,” then the movie, which stars Nicolas Cage, Cassi Thomson, Chad Michael Murray, and Lea Thompson, will be opening in theaters on October 3.
