If you still haven’t seen Guardians of the Galaxy in theaters and you’re just holding off until it shows up on DVD, you might want to reconsider. The summer blockbuster won’t be coming to the small screen until just before Christmas, but at least it will come with some goodies — if you decide to wait, that is.
The Marvel UK Twitter account announced on Tuesday that Guardians of the Galaxy will be coming to DVD and Blu-ray in that country on November 24. That may seem like quite a wait, but remember that Guardians only hit theaters in early August. Fans in the United States, according to ComicBook.com , will have to wait until December 9 to get their hands on a Guardians DVD.

When Guardians of the Galaxy does arrive for the small screen, fans will have two options to take home. There will be the standard edition, which simply features art from the Guardians posters. That version will be available for those who want Galaxy in Blu-ray or DVD, as well as the 12 people who will buy Guardians in 3D Blu-ray.
If you’re looking to splurge, though, there is a Steelbook edition. That version will be packaged to look like Star-Lord’s Walkman, complete with the Awesome Mix Vol. 1 cassette tape . Sweet.
If it has half the success on DVD that it had in theaters, Guardians of the Galaxy will still be a smashing success. A surprise hit that featured relatively unknown characters, Guardians took the box office by storm this summer, spending several weeks at the top of the charts. It also turned Chris Pratt from an adorable oaf into a bonafide action star, a transformation that has some saying Pratt could carry Marvel when Robert Downey, Jr. inevitably gives up his role as Iron Man.
The film introduced viewers to Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, Groot, and Drax the Destroyer, as well as a good chunk of the “cosmic” end of the Marvel Universe. With the Guardians now firmly established in the public’s mind, fans can likely expect to see Peter Quill and the rest of the spacefaring crew back for a sequel in a few years. They’re also reportedly slated to make an appearance in an upcoming Avengers movie , which will no doubt make for a smackdown for the ages.
In the mean time, though, fans will have to be satisfied with checking out Guardians of the Galaxy in theaters again, because late November/early December is still quite a ways away.
