‘Taken 3’ Trailer Released
Not long after the release of Taken 2, the sequel to the hit action movie Taken, we already have the trailer for Taken 3. You can view the complete theatrical promo in the video above, featuring Liam Neeson at his most hardcore.
Taken 3, also known as Tak3n, was anticipated by many but perhaps wanted by few. Liam Neeson himself publicly groaned about the possibility of a Taken 3, but he eventually signed on to the project for $20 million. Now fans can sink their teeth into the action-packed goodness that is the Taken 3 trailer.
In Taken 3, things are a little different for Neeson’s character, Bryan Mills, than in past Taken films. Instead of having his daughter or wife kidnapped by criminals and having to rescue them, Liam Neeson is framed for the murder of his wife. She is brutally killed just when the couple was beginning to reconcile their differences.
Taken 3 puts the protagonist up against every law-enforcement agency in the country. Neeson takes on the police force, the CIA and the FBI, using an incredible skill set of hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship and explosives expertise to avoid arrest and prove his innocence and protect his only surviving. Forest Whitaker plays the high-ranking official in charge of tracking down Neeson, not unlike Neeson’s own tactics in the previous Taken films.
The Verge reported on the release of the Taken 3 trailer today, compiling some of the most exciting quotes from the promo, including the following:
“There are things I have done in my life and I was always ready to face the consequences. To protect my family.”
“My first priority is to protect the only one I have left… I’m going to finish this.”
Perhaps the most memorable quote from the Taken 3 trailer is the goosebump-inducing exchange between Whitaker and Neeson:
“If you go down this road, the LAPD, the FBI, the CIA, they’re all gonna come for you.”
“Good luck.”
Fans of the first Taken film will recognize that last line as a reference to the infamous phone call between Neeson and his daughter’s captors. Neeson promises the kidnappers he will find them and kill them. The criminal responds “Good luck.” In Taken and Taken 2, Bryan Mills has had success in saving his family, but it’s a little shocking to see at the beginning of the Taken 3 trailer that his wife is already dead–and the only one left is his daughter.
According to ComicBook.com, Taken 3 stars Liam Neeson, Frank Dotzler, Sam Spruell and Dougray Scott; and is directed by Olivier Megaton. Taken 3 will be released in theaters on January 8.
