I think we have all come to the agreement that the CM Punk drama has gotten out of hand the last number of months. At one point, CM Punk was just another WWE wrestler who needed a bit of time away from the company. Then he decided to never come back. This breached his contract, but it seemed like no one cared. WWE let the talented performer go. That was until he decided to sue for his use in the WWE 2K15 video game set to release soon. He claimed he was never paid for his likeness, when in reality it was probably part of the WWE deal he breached. WWE stopped paying Punk months after he left.
The most people believed that if Punk ever did want to come back, there would be no way that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon would ever think of allowing it. They were the ones who were the most ticked off of him leaving. Vince McMahon has been trying to get Punk to come back repeatedly, as it is said that the two have an interesting sort of friendship.
CM Punk is a star, and he is needed right now. So it is not out of the norm for them to want him back, but would he be welcome? Especially by those not named Vince McMahon? Most thought not, until today.
WWE happens to be in Chicago, Illinois, tonight. The hometown of the beloved Second City Saint, CM Punk.
Stephanie McMahon sat down with WGN Morning News today (September 29) to talk with them about WWE’s partnership with the Susan G. Koman charity. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and WWE, like many other organizations, goes Pink the entire month. WWE sells numerous pink products to help raise awareness and money for the charity. It has been a big success for the company the last three years, and WWE has raised millions over that time.
Stephanie was then asked point blank by WGN if CM Punk will be back in the WWE ? Stephanie responded with “never say never,” which is interesting to say the least. This is the woman who was more than open to blasting the former WWE Champion on live TV for leaving. We also had been hearing that WWE’s new Authority were heavily against seeing Punk’s face, let alone signing him to another WWE deal.
However, rumors have been swirling that WWE has been secretly meeting with Punk, and that he could return to WWE soon. The problem, of course, is that this is just speculation and rumors with only small facts to really help it. WWE could have spoken with Punk, that much is potentially correct. However, he didn’t want to work WrestleMania 30, and he was more than open to suing WWE just recently.
While Stephanie will always say something like “never say never,” that does not mean Punk will be back any time soon. Rumors of him coming back are always going to happen when WWE is in his hometown or close to it. Many think that Punk will be back tonight, and while no one would seemingly object to a WWE return, it is very doubtful. Stephanie is leaving the door open for him to come back though, which is very interesting. At the end of the day though, the door can be open all day. Whether or not CM Punk chooses to come back to WWE is another story entirely.
