Chelsea To Bid $200 Million For Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi has allegedly been the subject of a $200 million bid from Chelsea.
Chelsea are thought to have made the audacious bid for the Barcelona legend, who scored his 400th career goal while playing for the Catalan side over the weekend, a few weeks ago. It isn’t the first time that Messi has been linked with Chelsea, and it’s thought that their owner, Roman Abramovich, is a huge admirer of the Argentinian player.
Reports in Spain have alleged that the huge offer was made earlier in the summer, but that Messi turned down the opportunity to move to England. Chelsea are still thought to hold hope that a deal can be agreed though, though it’s not actually known if the club rejected the offer or if they simply refused to respond to it.
There have been various reports throughout the summer that Messi might actually be unhappy at the Nou Camp. These stories have exacerbated speculation in the last few weeks that he will leave the club, even though he has enjoyed unprecedented success during his 10-year career at Barcelona. Messi has led the club to 21 trophies during this time, which has included six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues.
Messi has previously admitted that he is hugely interested in the Premier League, which led to rumors that he wanted to move to England. It’s even thought that he has talked to Cesc Fabregas, who used to play alongside Messi at Barcelona before he moved to Chelsea in the summer, about a switch to the country.
As you can imagine, Chelsea fans instantly took to Twitter to praise the impending bid.

It’s thought that Messi is still happy at Barcelona. After scoring two goals against Granada on Saturday, Messi spoke of his joy at having played at the club throughout his career.
“I never imagined I could achieve anything like this in my career. Thanks for all the congratulations on scoring 400 goals with FC Barcelona and the Argentinian National Team. I’ll continue working hard to reach more targets. A big hug to all!”
