The search for a missing realtor, who went to Scott, Arkansas, to show a house to a prospective buyer and never returned, is now on day three. The missing realtor, Beverly Carter, 51, was last heard from on Thursday when showing a home in Scott. She was reported missing by her husband when she didn’t return phone calls. Her vehicle was found empty except for her purse and wallet.
More than 250 volunteers have flooded the surrounds of Scott, Arkansas, to look for the missing realtor. Searches have taken place throughout the area as teams combed miles of terrain radiating out from the home she was showing on Old River Road. Investigators say they have few clues and little trace that a crime might have been committed.
“It’s a vast amount of acreage to search.”
Lieutenant Carl Minden of the local police spoke with 5 News about the searches, and said that a lot of area must be covered. While search teams have found many things, none have been solid evidence . The missing realtor’s co-workers are hoping she might have left a clue, and have been actively participating in the search for Carter.
Beverly’s husband, Carl Carter, described the scene which greeted him when he arrived at the house his wife was to have been showing. “Her car was there and the house was wide open,” he said. He knew something was wrong, and filed a report on the missing realtor.
Some clues have included cryptic text messages that Carl says were uncharacteristic of his wife, which police may see as possible delay tactic attempts by her captor. He spoke on camera with Arkansas Matters about the search for his wife and its affect on the missing realtor’s family.
Detectives have told MyArkLaMiss that they believe the missing realtor was taken from the home she was showing. They say they have witness reports as to who may have been with her during the showing, but have released few details.
Meanwhile, helicopters, deputies, volunteers, and more are canvassing for clues to help locate the missing realtor. As time ticks on, however, the prospect of finding Beverly Carter alive grow more and more slim.
