George Clooney And Amal Alamuddin Left A Note For Their Wedding Guests — Here’s What It Said
George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin have made it official. The famous couple said their vows Saturday night in Venice, Italy. According to US Weekly, the wedding happened at approximately 8:45pm.
Clooney’s representative released a statement, which People published quickly after the event.
“George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin were married today in a private ceremony in Venice, Italy.”
People also confirmed that former mayor of Rome Walter Veltroni performed the ceremony.
Among the many details reported by US was the contents of a letter written by George and Amal to their wedding guests.
“We’re both so glad you’re here. You’ve come a long way so we’ll make it worth the trip. Thanks for being here. It means the world to us.”
The letter was presented to everyone at the wedding along with a framed picture of the couple. Each guest also got an iPod with a playlist they had specially compiled.
In a previous Inquisitr post it was reported that Anna Wintour was among the guests at Clooney and Alamuddin’s nuptials, as U.S. Vogue had secured the rights to the wedding pictures. US Weekly confirmed today that guests were asked to leave their electronic devices in their rooms and that cameras were supplied by the couple at the reception.
In addition to Wintour, wedding guests included Bono, Rande Gerber and his wife Cindy Crawford, Bill Murray, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.
The menu included light but classy fare, including lobster, lemon risotto and fried polenta with mushrooms. The meal was reportedly part of a five-course banquet.
The couple’s wedding festivities started Friday night with a dinner and concurrent bachelor and bachelorette parties. According to a report in The Guardian today, Clooney experienced a close call as he arrived for his event, as he almost fell out of the boat that had transported him to the location. A staff member reportedly helped him ashore.
Another lavish dinner is set for Sunday.
US Weekly quotes a source who praised the relationship between Clooney and Alamuddin when their relationship was first revealed.
“This is the healthiest relationship I’ve ever seen George in. He seems incredibly happy, and Amal is such a sweet and intelligent girl, who has her own thoughts and ideas and doesn’t just bow down to everything he says.”
According to an E! Online report published yesterday, Saturday’s ceremony was to be “symbolic,” while a civil ceremony on Monday would make the two officially, and legally, married.
