George Clooney’s wedding weekend celebration kicks off today, with festivities galore in store for the actor and his bride-to-be, Amal Alamuddin. The wedding will reportedly take place in Venice on Saturday, and Extra TV reports that the couple will spend their last night enjoying dinner with friends, just hours before becoming Mr. and Mrs. Clooney.

What time does the Clooney wedding start, who designed Amal’s gown, where will the ceremony take place, and who is on the guest list? Here’s the low-down on the big weekend, with all the details leading up to the moment America’s Most Eligible Bachelor finally becomes a married man.

This weekend’s wedding festivities will take place in Venice, Italy. Clooney announced the location in early September when he spoke at Celebrity Fight Night in Tuscany. The actor stated that he would marry Amal “in a couple of weeks” in Venice, and that’s when women around the world who have swooned over George for years finally realized that he’s truly off the market.

“I would just like to say to my bride-to-be, Amal, that I love you very much, and I can’t wait to be your husband.”

The New Zealand Herald reports that the ceremony will take place on Saturday, but an exact time is still unknown. For those following the latest news and gossip about the Clooney wedding, it is important to note that Italy is six hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time in the U.S. If George and Amal have a noon wedding on Saturday, it will be 6 a.m. in New York and 3 a.m. in California. Unless you’re an early riser, you can rejoice in the fact that the wedding isn’t being shown on national TV like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s nuptials back in 2011.

Before the big day arrives, a rehearsal dinner will reportedly take place at Hotel Cipriani on Friday night. Extra TV reports that Matt Damon, Sandra Bullock, Bono and a host of other celebrities will attend the dinner.

The Telegraph UK reports that the Clooney wedding is likely to take place at the elegant Aman Canal Grande, which is reportedly fully booked for the entire weekend. Guests will likely arrive at the hotel by boat and enter what the Telegraph describes as a “vast, beamed reception area” with marble floors.

“A trompe-l’oeil grand staircase leads up to the piano nobile and rococo ballroom with gilt mirrors, frescos, Murano chandeliers, terrazzo floor and windows overlooking the Canal.”

What will George Clooney wear and who designed the bride’s wedding gown? The New Zealand Times reports that Giorgio Armani recently announced that he will be responsible for dressing the groom. Little is known about Amal’s gown, other than paparazzi spotting her last week as she exited the London headquarters of Alexander McQueen, the same place designer Sarah Burton designed Kate Middleton’s wedding gown.

The guest list for George and Amal’s wedding is not a long one, with the Daily Mail reporting that approximately 60 people will attend Saturday’s celebration. The list reportedly includes George’s best friend, Rande Gerber and his wife, supermodel Cindy Crawford; newly-married Brad Pitt and his wife, Angelina Jolie; and actor Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana. It is rumored that Gerber will serve as Clooney’s best man.

The Guardian reports that Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli will reportedly be performing at the wedding, and Clooney’s friend and former centre-left mayor of Rome Walter Veltroni will officiate the ceremony. However, the couple won’t officially be married on Saturday, due to Italian laws. In Italy, all civil ceremonies have to take place in council buildings, so George Clooney and Alamuddin will not legally tie the knot until Monday.
