Jessa Duggar Not Following In Mother’s Footsteps? Jessa Talks Family Plans, Babies and Adoption

Jessa Duggar seems to have family plans all of her own. Though her mother, Michelle Duggar, is known for her massive crew of biological children, Jessa seems to have a slightly different idea for her family.

The couple hasn’t even made it down the aisle yet, but they are already talking family planning with ABC News. The soon-to-be-wed Duggar is excited about her future as a married woman, but notes that she believes her brood of children will be different than that of her mother.

“Whatever God’s plan is, we’d be good with that! It’s probably not possible for me to have 19 kids naturally, but we might adopt and get up to that number.”

In a second interview with Radar Online, Ben Seewald says that he and Jessa will almost certainly adopt.

“We’ve got a lot of different ideas about what we’re going to do, but adopting is definitely one of them.”

Jessa also told Radar Online, “We’re both open to children and looking forward to starting a family of our own. We also really want to adopt.”

It appears that both Jessa and Ben are on the same page when it comes to the topic of adoption, but what does the rest of the Duggar crew think of the prospect?

Jessa’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, have 19 biological children. However, the couple has no adopted children. Today notes that Jim Bob and Michelle considered adopting a 20th child from China, but Michelle said the couple was waiting for God to decide whether they should pursue that option.

“We have friends that have adopted children who are a great influence in our lives, and we have talked about their experiences. So it’s something we’ve considered. We have to know for sure that is what God wants for us to do. When he gives us a child [through pregnancy], there is no doubt in our minds that is what He wants, but when it comes to adoption, we would have to know for sure that was His will.”

It appears that, unlike her mother, Jessa is certain God has adoption planned for her future, but she seems less sure of what size of family is best for the couple.

The Duggars definitely don’t have to worry about a lack of babies in their near future. Jill Dillard, the most recently married Duggar, is already expecting her first child in March.
